Hello, everyone.

Performing a character search in Factbook brings up a feature called "referred to as" which shows all the places a character is referred to including implied subject of verb and pronouns.

This feature is only available for character searches.

I am doing a study on all the New Testament references to healing. When I do a search, I can find all the places where the word healing (heal, heals, healed) are mentioned but the results didn't find Acts 14:10 where Paul healed a man who was crippled from birth (but the word "heal" is not mentioned).

What is the best way to find all the New Testament references to healing even when the word is not used?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Scott

Try {Section <Culture Healing>}

Meanwhile, Jesus kept on growing wiser and more mature, and in favor with God and his fellow man.

International Standard Version. (2011). (Lk 2:52). Yorba Linda, CA: ISV Foundation.

Alternately, if you have access to the Miracles of the Bible dataset: {Label Miracle WHERE Type = "Healing"}

Thank you, Rick!

When I searched using: {Section <Culture Healing>}, I got 6,130 results in 4,197 articles in 146 resources

When I searched using: {Label Miracle WHERE Type = "Healing"}, 3,973 results in 3,013 articles in 113 resources

I don't know if having more or less results is better in this case. I don't know exactly what these results are showing other than in both cases, I'm able to see references to healing without the word appearing in the text.

To be honest, I'm not familiar with datasets. I've never searched them before or used the recommended commands from you and Beloved. I didn't even know I had the Miracles of the Bible dataset until I tried it based on your recommendation! :)

I have Logos 7 Portfolio and with help from customer service, I was shown where the list of datasets I own are located (About Logos Bible Software). When I couldn't find the Miracles of the Bible dataset listed there, she told me the Bible Questions set is in the Supplemental Data section. I think she meant Miracles of the Bible is in the Supplemental Data section?

Maybe I should post another question about this?

Thank you Rick (and Beloved) for your help!

If you're looking for examples in the Bible, you probably want to narrow your search range to your preferred Bible (instead of all of them).

The Lexham Cultural Ontology ({Section <Cultural Healing>}) annotates Bibles and all sorts of other contemporary literature (Josephus, Apostolic Fathers, etc.) so if you're looking for examples outside of the Bible, it is a good one to look for.

The Miracles dataset only annotates the Bible, and then only ascribes a type of "Healing" to miracles. So healing outside of miracles, if it happens (e.g. someone was sick and just got better, non-miraculously) will not be covered in that dataset. If you are interested in those items as well, then the Cultural Ontology results are probably more in line with what you're expecting.

Yes, sounds like there was confusion between Miracles and Bible Questions (we've had some issues with the licensing of Bible Questions, so I can see how the CS rep would make that honest mistake.)
