If you lucked out, and got the Charles package that downloaded yesterday, the 2 resources on the Zadokite work are interesting.

Charles wrote his about a year after Schechter wrote his (1910). Neither of course had access to the 'Dead Sea Scrolls', and so, had to postulate concerning the sons of Zadok.

The interesting part is how close each came, absent DSS.  It really illustrates scholarly guesswork using limited information.

Charles also postulates from FZW, that the expected messiah (one of them) would be from Herod and Mariamme (Herod's 2 previous sons got themselves killed). This is interesting, given Matthew's account of Herod and a competing messiah in Bethlehem.

"God will save his fallen angels and their broken wings He'll mend."
