I want to talk to the congregation about the words...

Lord, LORD and (small caps)

However of the fonts that I have tried in Proclaim I cannot find a font that makes setting small caps noticeable.

Please will somebody point me in the right direction?

The small caps feature works with only a tiny number of fonts for some reason. BPreplay, Carrois Gothic and CMG Sans all work. I'm sure you could find others.

I use unicode with a custom uploaded version of Lato which is the clearest option I've found.

Thanks again for the help Mark.

The three fonts you suggest don't show any appreciable change on my system and when I tried the generator all I got on the presentation screen was 'L' followed by three boxes.

I guess I will skip my pearls of wisdom on this subject this week and revisit the problem after Sunday.

You need to make sure you've typing "Lord" (initial uppercase, then lowercase) before you press the AllCaps button. Your screenshot doesn't look like you've done that (unless there's a Mac bug, perhaps).

Did you upload your own version of Lato? That's required for these extended unicode characters.

Thank you Jordon and thank you Mark.

I wonder if there should be some attention given to this button. While the significance of the word 'Lord' is often glossed over and taken for granted it does have a special meaning and I think some effort should be made to maintain the word forms in the original print editions. This should apply to both the font in the 'On Screen Bible' and when using 'Bible Slides'.

Improvement suggestions.

  • add small caps to the 'On Screen Bible' font.
  • change the small caps button to ensure it works with entries that are likely to be typed in.
  • LORD
  • Lord
  • and lord (this last one I might suggest would be the least likely to be entered and so clicking the button is most likely to fail)
  • mark the fonts in the font list with an indication of which fonts have small caps capability (Asterisk, 'TT' or colour of name)

I note that the button behaves much better if switched on before typing the word but perhaps this is not the most likely way folk will approach their text entry?

Forgive me, but you still seem to be confused about how small caps works. It only has effect on lowercase letters. It leaves uppercase letters alone, and converts lowercase letters into half-height uppercase letters. In other words, to get Lᴏʀᴅ, you have to write Lord and apply smallcaps. Small caps will have no effect on "LORD", and the only effect it will have on "lord" will just look like a smaller version of "LORD" (e.g. ʟᴏʀᴅ).

Mark Barnes:
Forgive me,

My son you are forgiven. :-)

I am beginning to understand how it works Mark, however it has taken me some time to get this far and, if it has taken me this long, I think it is likely to be a problem for the silent majority who just give up and move on.

My suggestion is that instead of only being able to write Lord and have it convert. It ought to convert lord and (for me most naturally) LORD as well. In addition this should work whether the button is clicked before typing or after the word is input and highlighted
