Came across an article by an atheist:

https://www.news24.com/MyNews24/The-Problem-of-the-Bible-Inaccuracies-contradictions-fallacies-scientific-issues-and-more-20120517

It got me thinking about the Bible and its analogy to a map.

In the following article, the author explains that many times a personal experience with God triggers an institutionalized response to preserve the significance of the event.

http://www.darc.org/connelly/religion1.html

So in a way in my view, one of the primary objectives of the Bible is to point to the existence of God's reality, and that one can access that reality for empowerment, understanding, relationing, and obtaining marching orders with respect to one's life mission so to speak.

When writers of the Bible wrote, in my mind they did so that we eventually strive to become persons like Daniel, Abraham, Joseph of Egypt, Stephen the Deacon, Enoch, etc.

To enter the New pact, to be born again, to develop a relationship with the creator to experience redemption in full, where we can be useful for Kingdom purposes once entered in the Royal Family as adopted children.

I thing most atheists miss on that point.

Anyhow, if I want to explore topics related to the above, plus topics related to the so called "inconsistencies" reported by atheists, how can I get a list of the topics available to use in the Go box?

How about a list of topics available in Sermon, topic, fact book, and the like?

Thanks ahead of time for any clue on this.

Blessings.

I don't know about a list, unless Faithlife have one! You can enter 'topics' into Factbook, Topic Guide, etc. and receive a number of related suggestions that will include topics and sermons.

The GO Box is an alternative to Factbook/Topic Guide/Sermons, in that you will receive suggestions with the correct input. The main difference is the number of ways they can used e.g. topic guide, a Topic layout, resources on the topic. What is your reason for specifying the GO box?

Avoiding the theology in your post, what you are asking for is a list of the contents of the portion of the Logos Controlled Vocabulary related to Topics.

This is a good place to start: Husser, Lydia. Logos Controlled Vocabulary: Dataset Documentation. Bellingham, WA: Faithlife, 2017. It is possible that Husser, Lydia. Preaching Themes: Dataset Documentation. Bellingham, WA: Faithlife, 2016. is also useful. For the relevance of a controlled vocabulary see http://www.getty.edu/research/publications/electronic_publications/intro_controlled_vocab/what.pdf

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

Would manual tagging be the best way to make a collection out of the listed above resources?

Blessings.

It would be the only way! How will you use that collection?

Hi Dave:

Sorry for the late answer.

There are different ways to use the collection:

Usually type in a Bible reference for trying to find clues on theological themes.

Eg Romans 12:1, I would like to know if there is a connection in the body as living sacrifice and the heart, from where all bad or good things come out.

Is what we expose the body to what actually pollutes the heart?

Usually I get hints at ways in which others have gleaned different theological angles on passages.

My assumption here is that Logos has hand picked resources like the ones listed that are well balanced in their views, and that have accessibility trough references.

I do this to facilitate search, as in a whole En Library search there are so many hits that sometimes is baffling.

Hope this clarifies things for you.

They are picked for their access to topics, not bible references. A collection of these resources would be used in the Collections section of Topic Guide
