In 1 and 2 Thessalonians, Paul refers to the persecution they have been undergoing.

What is the easiest way to find out if any historian or someone (ancient or modern) wrote about this persecution (other than in the Bible I mean)? How would I structure such a search?

Thanks!

Try persecution in Factbook.

Because you're interested in specific persecution, not persecution generally, I wouldn't recommend the Factbook approach.

I suggest persecution WITHIN {Milestone <1 Thess - 2 Thess>}. Ideally restrict the search to commentaries, or (even better) background commentaries.

You could also search books in your library that have the subject of "Persecution" for references to 1-2 Thessalonians, although I think that's less helpful.
