Hello, I am trying to search a specific document for how many occurences of a certain word exist. In the Summa Theologicae, I want to search for a specific string - "Moral." This is in reference to Aquinas quoting St. Gregory's Morals on Job document. However, when I do a search, it not only highlights those instances, but also words like "moral" or "morality." I want the search to include the parenthesis because the citation is always begins with parenthesis. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

Jon

Two things that should return the results you're looking for.

1. Remove the quotation marks

2. Insure "Match all word forms" is not checked

You might also try the Concordance tool, indexed by Reference.

Randy,

I attempted the concordance search, but for some reason Logos doesn't recognize my specific source as a source, and thus ignores it entirely.

Not sure why or how to get it fixed...

Fred C,

As you can see in the image you uploaded, multiple versions of the world beginning with "moral" are included. I want a count of all the ones that appear as (Moral because that shows how many times Aquinas cites that source, and not how many times he uses the word "moral."

Hopefully that is clear, sorry if I've caused confusion. It seems to me the concordance tool is what I should be using, but doesn't work for this particular source for whatever reason...

From Fred's screenshot, select Match Case and search for "Moral"  (with/without the quotes). Punctuation will be ignored, so you can't find "(Moral". If you want to be more precise, include more of the citation  e.g. "Moral Dilemma" (with quotes, and exact case).
