Trying to look up Greek words during the sermon this morning, I found the app was missing by a word. (Ipad, latest auto-update, ESV and NA28.) IOW, the word to the right of the selected word was looked up.

???

I am not getting the same results you are for these words. Is the resource downloaded? If so, delete it and try from the cloud. Then try redownloading it.

Both resources are downloaded.

Did you delete them? If not, do so. The file may just need to be updated.

No, not yet. I haven't pissed on a spark plug yet, either.  Both are about the same in terms of desirability and results. Angry

Doc B,

I am sorry to hear that this is not working for you.  Please try this, and let us know if this helps:

1. Make sure your device is on a strong Wi-Fi connection. It is important to use Wi-Fi, and not the network provided by the service provider for your mobile device.
2. Close all apps. Restart the Logos app.
3. Press the “hamburger” menu icon (looks like three horizontal lines) in the lower-right corner of the app. Scroll down to “Sync Your Data” and tap on it. It will start spinning
4. Wait until the spinning stops before trying to use the App again.

Thanks, Joe.  That sounds much better than either the spark plug or delete/re-installs.

No, not yet.

I don't think you understood me. I meant "delete the resource" not "delete the app." I think you got to the same place but via a different route. I think your resource was out of date.

Why does this matter? Wifi is not itself an internet connection. It just (possibly) gets you to something that provides an internet connection. What if my 4G connection is better than my broadband connection? Which is the case in my home, both in terms of speed and latency.

I realize that if you're actually moving, a 4G/cell connection can be inconsistent. But that's the same situation in which a wifi connection is usually no available at all or is just a means to access what is ultimately still a mobile connection.

Curious,

Donnie

I don't think it really matters if you are in the situation you are in. However, speaking generally, "Wi-Fi" is a stronger, more persistent source than cellular.

He could have added: "Make sure you are physically near your "wi-fi" source. In my case, being downstairs kitty-corner to the router would be a worse solution than using cellular.

This wasn't really an issue for me as my iPad doesn't have cellular...it is wi-fi only.

But Donnie's is an interesting question.

The mobile apps will automatically update any outdated downloaded resources only when a Wi-Fi connection is present.

Generally speaking, broadband vendors don't have a defined data limit and won't charge extra if you go "over" that limit. However, some of our customers do have data limits with their cellular providers.

This is why the apps will not automatically update downloaded resources on devices with only a cellular connection.

Until recently downloaded resources that went corrupt could only be fixed by manually removing them and then downloading them again, or by re-installing.

Nowadays the app automatically updates your downloaded resources (if needed) whenever you are connected to Wi-Fi.
