sorry I have asked this question some time ago.

Now ready to go for an hardware upgrade

my laptop is a Intel i7 cpu and has 2 graphic cards. 16GB internal memory. it's about 4 years old . First drive is a solid state 128 gig this as Windows 10 64bit. Second drive is a 1TB normal mechanical drive running at low speed. my library has about 12,000 plus, resources. I have logos 8 installed on the 1tb . Question Would it make a big difference to upgrade to a Samsung 860 Evo 1TB . Interface: SATA 6GB/s Interface, compatible with SATA 3 GB/s & 1.5 interfaces SATA 6Gb/s Interface2.5 inch form factorSequential Read: Max. 550 MB/sSequential Write: Max. 520 MB/5 Year Warranty

There are so many different drives is this the best one to go for

What is the best way to copy the Old drive data to a new ssd drive Appreciate any pointers

It would make a difference, yes, but the speeds you get on the new SSD could depend on the motherboard you have in your 4 year old laptop. It might have a slower SATA speed rate than the drive.

Upgrading SSD from 128 GB to 1 TB followed by moving Logos 8 to SSD would noticeably improve Logos 8 performance.

Personally look for SSD Sata III Write speed 500 MB/s or faster. If laptop has a faster SSD interface (m.2, NVMe, PCIe), then would use it for noticeably faster performance (since Write speed can be over 1,000 MB/s).

Amazon's Best Seller is $ 129.99 Samsung 860 EVO 1 TB (Sata III) => https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Inch-Internal-MZ-76E1T0B-AM/dp/B078DPCY3T

Amazon's Choice is $ 89.99 Pioneer 3D Nand 1 TB (Sata III) => https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KWWFGRX (500 MB/s write)

Personally have used clonezilla many times to clone one Windows drive to another, which included drive identifier.

The ssd drive that came with the laptop is S-Sata ll,

The laptop was a gaming custom made by PC specialist

The Intel i7 cpu is a 4th gen

I have tried using the gaming graphics card selected when using logos

I Found it was not making eny difference between the internal card

Thanks

The Samsung 860 EVO is my go to drive.  I use them in every build and upgrade.  Samsung's data migration software makes it easy to clone your old drive.
