HI there, I'm an avid notes user and collected several hundred notes in my old Libronix for Windows.  I now want to import them and add new notes in my L4 for Mac.  I notice notes are mentioned in some of the more recent update descriptions, but haven't figured out just what I can and cannot do.  Can anyone shed light on this?  Has anyone played around with the notes feature yet to find out how far along things are?  Can I import from Libronix (I have the files)?  Can I add new notes?

Notes showed up in our last Alpha 22 release.  The release notes mention the following two items:

Notes (http://community.logos.com/forums/t/18394.aspx)

  • Notes (document) panel now showing content, but incomplete
  • Can *view* existing notes (limited rich text display support)

This can be done on the L4win side but not sure what is coming on the mac side.

Can I add new notes?
This feature is also coming but is not in the current Alpha.

Hi Joe (or anyone)

Beta finally!  Congratulations.

I've read a notes wiki here http://wiki.logos.com/Importing_from_LDLS3 but this seems to be for Windows users.  Could i follow these instructions on my Windows machine, then bring the updated notes file onto my Mac and import into L4 Mac version?

Any help on seeing my old notes from my Windows pc on my Mac would be much appreciated,

Thanks again to the developers (and thanks for keeping this hush hush until it came out).

NOTE: A fair word of warning. The current Beta includes a bug in synchronization that affects non-Latin characters (e.g. Greek, etc). If you want to explore the Notes feature, I'd suggest waiting until Beta 2, which should be out soon to address the issue.

The process for this would look like this:

1) Import the Notes to Logos 4 Windows from Libronix for Windows using the documented process.

2) Unless you've disabled "Use Internet" on either machine, when you next login to Logos 4 Mac, the notes will automatically sync to your Mac

Yes, you may add new notes. In fact, you've been able to add notes since long before you could actually edit them.

pardon my ignorance, but i can't seem to find the aforementioned "documented process" for importing notes on my old windows machine.  do i understand correctly that once i've imported my windows l3 notes into a windows version of L4, my mac L4 will update itself to grab the notes too?  If so, that is very cool - but where's that documentation?

Thank you!  It worked!  Aaahhhhh!!!

In figuring out my way around, i created an empty note.  Is there an easy way to delete it?

Mac or Windows? In Windows, a small red x appears to the far right of the title and little square. On the Mac, I have refrained from downloading the Beta until I am assured it will not corrupt the notes I have created in the Windows version.

I would suggest finding another piece of software to import your old notes into might be the better bet. I've switched to OneNote, which I find much more serviceable than the notes in Logos --it's a lot more flexible, I can select what's synchronized where, and I encrypt specific notes if I want to. Linking back and forth is a bit harder, but it also allows me to combine notes between multiple pieces of software, and it's easier than waiting on Logos to address my privacy and usability concerns.

hmmm, i'm happy that works for you, but i've decided to put all my eggs in the logos basket.  having used 2 other major bible softwares, and working with a colleague who's used a third well-know product, I'm hoping Logos will deliver the goods on this one.  so far i haven't been disappointed, and i'm willing to hold out for a few months while they get the fine tuning completed.  If a year from now my notes are mess, I still have the old files and may revisit your suggestion.  i'm using a Mac, and the "delete note" option doesn't seem like too far of a stretch to expect.

"Delete Note" has not been added to the UI yet on Mac. It's simply an oversight and it'll probably show up soon.

Hyperlinks (adding, editing, following) are not yet in Mac notes either.

Oversight my foot. You guys have worked so hard to get notes implemented, you can't bear the thought of anyone wanting to delete one!
