JimT - sometimes it is not worth responding to some who continue to look to use inflammatory references and try to control what appears on the forums. You are correct in stating it is not a dead issue...

It is a serious privacy and security issue. Some will just fall in line and never question Team Logos and condemn any that do, however for many who purchased well prior to V4 and the Cloud objectives, they are owed clarification and answers. As long as V3 is kept intact and usable there should be no problems, but if V3 is forsaken, there could be some serious issues for a lot of folks. IE - missionaries in "locked" communities - for them the cloud is a risk and honestly a thoughtless hindrance to their mission. Another to think about is legislation put up by Lieberman - I from CT that would allow the President to shut down certain aspects of the internet under circumstances, who knows where this could lead to...

So let them complain about dead horses, crying wolf, etc... I left the forums because of it, but I was actually the one losing out, because they just kept hammering others as well... V4 has a lot of potential, but also a lot of holes and we have a right to comment as often as we like...

... but it's been a good many posts since anyone brought any new argument points or facts to the issue

Well, Bob JUST DID!

He has lifted the "game" on Cloud Usage, but without offering any better answers to protecting user-content.

I love and welcome most of what the company is doing, and I look forward to whatever Biblia.com will bring, but I don't want all my user-content there!!!

(Actually, I'm happy to have much of it there, but as we can't pick which, I have no option but to have NONE. This aspect is a great concern to me, more as a matter of principle, than any current content I have in the Logos software. All the talk of making Notes better is pointless to me, until I can keep selected Notes local.)

Terry Poperszky:

Observation:

The split view only seems to accept bibles on the left and commentaries on the right. I will more often have two bibles open, than a commentary and a bible.

Try typing a Bible reference into the search box at the top of the right frame. I did that thinking I'd come to that reference in the commentary displayed and instead it opened a second Bible window.

Mark A. Smith:
The navigation box does not work correctly in the Cambridge Paragraph KJV.

This is now working.

The reference box on the RHS is still useless.

When I first opened up Biblia tonight I noticed that it did this (a second copy of NASB). After pulling in a commentary I can no longer get a Bible in that RH pane.

Of course, and you'd even have my blessing if (a) other threads aren't hijacked and (b) it has a truth in advertising title. Then I (and everyone else) can pick and choose whether to read the thread. I'm more grumpy on the topic than I should be but for several days it seemed that no thread was safe from a security tirade - I think I could have posted a Schultz' Lucy lemonade stand and it would have turned into a security issueCool <-- me asking for protection money.

But start as many threads as you want, put security, backup or a similar word in the title and I promise I won't complain.

I closed Biblia and reopened it. On the left was the NASB opened to Genesis 1:1. At first the RH pane was blank. In a moment the NICNT volume on Matthew opened to the title page:

I then typed Matthew 2 in the reference box of the commentary:

Hitting Enter this is what I got:

Clicking on the arrow for the drop-down list on the RH panel opened the normal list of commentaries:

I selected the one on Matthew and it opened again to the title page. I typed Matthew 1 in the reference box, hit enter, and nothing happened. It would now not respond to entries in the reference box.

I now scrolled in the commentary to Page xii, reentered Matthew 1, hit enter, and the reference box showed Page v briefly while the panel went blank, then it went back to Page xii. Other references produced the same result.

It isn't working.

I just tried this using IE 8 (64-bit) version. The above was using Firefox 3.6. I got the exact same result using IE8.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm really not sure if anyone is looking for your blessing as to what they post.... Also this is in sharp contrast to your original post in response to George Somsel, which said nothing about titling or starting new threads, but just jumped on someone who has a question or concern about Cloud computing with comments about beating dead horses and crying wolf... As for you complaining or not, it's your right to complain, but does over step complaints when it is always directed at a someone instead of a something....

Jason Saling:

Compared to the beta of Biblia.com, I like Library.Logos.com better.  Don't see the benefit of Biblia.com yet, though I'm sure that'll change as it evolves.

Concur, but perhaps the library beta site ran into an architectural snag.  Just really wish I could access my reading plans and work with highlighting/clippings/notes from a desktop browser...for whatever reason, I am unable to log in to the mobile browser via my work BBerry & that interface is less than ideal on a desktop.

I'm looking forward to seeing this develop further capability-wise.

I should hope not!

I try to be careful to not pick someone out unless they have violated forum guidelines. I'll go back through my posts and see if I slipped up.

Frank Sauer:
comments about beating dead horses and crying wolf.

Said comment related to effective communication. I thought that a illustration would be the least offensive way of making the point. I always regret it when what I attempted to say is not what is heard - and apologize if I see a way I could have communicated better.

Thanks a lot for all the feedback and bug reports!

I have just updated the site with many bug fixes and performance improvements. There are also a couple minor feature additions-- including the always-popular resource count in the resource pickers :)

Thanks,

Bryan

Michael,

The rating you see there should be synced from Logos 4. Does it not match?

Oh, that's Mark's picture. I was just surprised to see that he had only given it one star!

I haven't been on the site for a while so wanted to check it out today (DSL down for a week). I still can't get anything except Genesis 1. Typing just "Genesis" gives me intro info on Genesis, but I can't get, for example, to Mark 1 or 2 Peter. Just Genesis 1. And the same issue with the right column. I can choose a book, and it will open to the beginning, but typing an entry in the box doesn't seem to do anything.

Thanks for the report Dave, this bug should be fixed now.

Missed your comment Michael. Yes one star. Shows that I haven't rated too many of my resources. The one star was an easy way to keep track of certain resources for other purposes.

I just promoted Dr. France to 5 stars, however. We all feel better now.

Whew!!!

France's "big" Matthew is one of a handful of commentaries I've read cover to cover. What a treat!
