It is a new year and we have many new users and forum members. In light of that, I thought I would create a new post about community pricing.

Faithlife has a program where users can drive down the initial price of resources which have not yet been added to the FL catalog. These are largely (but not always) public domain works. Here is how the program works:

If you are interested in a given resource being added, you "bid" the amount you would be willing to pay for the resource. You are not charged unless the resource goes into production.

Fictional Example: Faithlife determines a resource will cost them $5000 to produce. Fifty people could bid $100 (50x100 = $5000) and it would go into production. However, if 100 people bid $50, it would also go into production. Better yet, 500 people could bid $10 and it would go into production (500 x $10 = $5000). One thing to note: When a person bids $100, they are also bidding for $75, $50, $25, $10, etc. Your bid includes the amount you bid and every price point LOWER.

In this fictitious example, lets say that the resource does end up being published for $10. Every successful bidder will get it for $10. Anyone who bid LESS than $10, will NOT get the resource, will NOT be charged, and will have the opportunity to purchase the resource for a HIGHER price point at a later date (i.e. $25).

In my subject line, I lured you here by mentioning a FREE* Lexham English Bible (LEB) with Audio Old Testament. This is a unique community pricing resource. It is not a book, but the audio for the LEB OT. FL has committed to giving the resource away for FREE after it is published. FL is asking for our help to fund it, but we will be given a credit to our account. In other words, if the audio book ships and "successful bidders" are charged (lets say $10), then each "successful bidder" will be given a $10 credit to use in the store on another item.

HERE is the link to the CP page for the LEB OT Audio.

HERE is a link to all CP items, sorted by "progress"

If you have any questions about this particular CP item, or the CP program in general, feel free to ask!

Here is a screenshot from MY bid on the LEB OT Audiobook (as of January 1st, 2020). Notice that I bid $17 (the highest current price point). My $17 bid is also a bid for all the lower price points (i.e. $1). The current peak is at $8, and it looks like about 70% of the necessary funding has been bid on at that price point. To make this item succeed, we will either need everyone to raise their bids, or get new bidders to come on board. The more bidders, the less expensive the resource will be.

New year... and a quarter... time for a bump to this helpful CP primer thread. Lots of new customers and forum members with Logos/Verbum 9 and WordSearch!

Looks like about 85% now. Almost there!

Bid here now.
