I've been trying to make sense of the classification of books that are accessed by headwords. For example, why aren't these dictionaries or encyclopedias?

  • Clarke, Adam. The Bibliographical Miscellany; Or, Supplement to the Bibliographical Dictionary. Vol. I & II. London: W. Baynes, 1806.
  • Taylor, Marion Ann, and Agnes Choi, eds. Handbook of Women Biblical Interpreters: A Historical and Biographical Guide. Grand Rapids, MI: Baker Academic, 2012.
  • Long, Siobhán Dowling, and John F. A. Sawyer. The Bible in Music: A Dictionary of Songs, Works, and More. Lanham, MD: Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, 2015.

Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

This is an odd large book. Volume One has encyclopedia like tendencies but Volume Two is a collection of essays, surveys, and lists. It's not really a neat fit in any category but if encylopedia is a more useful designation I'm open to the change.

MJ. Smith:

I agree with you. I've made the change to encyclopedia.

This is a Faithlife EBook title.
