Bid at least $35 even if you think you can't afford it, because if you continue to wait NOBODY will get it moving to the point where the price will drop as it gets near 100%.

Barnes' Notes has been in the community pricing longer than any other resource. It is getting close to the amount needed to go into producion. It has about 80% of the support needed, so all we need is for a few more to place bids!

I'm excited that the community pricing has finally become a major part of the Logos website. I have a bid on every resource in community pricing, except for the one written in Latin.

I notice that Barnes has already been over taken by one of the newcomers as has been noted before if every one with a bid below $30 raised their bid to $24 it would be live at a cost of $1.50 a volume!

    Hi Tom

Unfortunately, or fortunately when it ships and we are charged, bidding over $30 will make no difference unless of course lots of people raise their bid to $90.

I understand.. I've just tried to put my money where my mouth is. I'll be happy to pay the $30.... Or anything up to the maximum of $90 if I can just get this reasonably soon [:)]

I think the challenge is to persuade others who have lower bids that Barnes is worth $30 and to recruit some new bidders. It has been stuck for a while at about 80%, I guess the question is why do you think its worth $90...

Tom I'm in at $90 too.  If the majority of Logos users continue to keep their bid at $30 we will continue to see Barnes Notes on the CP page.  I think bidding $90 is a good thing.

    Abi,

You know me and I cannot read your mind on this one.  But my thoughts, Tom,--if you need it now it is available and free but not in Logos 4, yet.  And an individual has no control over resources in community pricing as to the "if" and then the "when".  I do hope, Tom, you get it by the time you need it.

OK, Abi, why don't you say it.

Only if you're willing to pay $90 for the set.  Which I'm not.

I have my bid set at a lower price point because honestly that's all the set is worth to me as a reference.  I'll pay what I've bid and not a penny more.  Apparently I'm not alone.

Hmm Sarcasm is my love language. Obviously I love you.

Agree with you Thomas, I wouldn't pay $90 for this resource as it is not that important. There are more active resources that would be beneficial to me then Barnes.

Graham Owen Replied: [in a thread on Barnes]

[…] as has been noted before if everyone with a bid below $30 raised their bid to $24 it would be [released] at a cost of $1.50 a volume!

This implies that the data is available that could show what we need to bid to get IT released like NOW

If we bid as asked [in this case if all bids less than 24 for Barnes were raised to 24]

    [For consideration by the community]

What if the CP listed the price that we could get the item for if everyone converted their current bid to XXX?

That is if it would cost 50,000 and there are 1000 bidders [at all price levels] we would be asked to bid $50 to get it NOW.

The system would then show our current bid (say) 25

The expected bid (what it looks like the community will set the price at (in ten years or so)) (like maybe) $20

And the needed bid (as described above) $50

It is my understanding that there is absolutely no risk in bidding $90.00 ---- am I right?

Well, there is the risk that enough people will bid $90 to make that the price and no more than that.  Then you'll pay $90.

That's why the best policy in CP is to pick the highest price you'd be willing to pay, and bid that.  I have (without stomping my foot.[:p]).

Well, I have had an occasion in the past when it took so long for a resource to finally make it through community pricing and into pre-pub, that by the time it was ready to ship I had purchased a very similar item, so I edited my order in my account and deleted it.

I understand this isn't true consistently through the reaches of the universe, but if we limit it to all who will read this thread on the forums, at this point Barnes will probably not move up or down even if 100 people suddenly change their bids from $25 to $100.  I think Barnes (being a special case) has been driven for so long at the $30 mark its sort of stuck or locked at that position.  People can either decide to pay $30 and jump in or decide to pay less and miss out.

I'll go ahead and "not necessarily" myself to save the next reader from having to...

So for this resource there is virtually no risk with a $90 bid.  Just as there's virtually no risk of actually receiving Barnes once it ships if someone has a $10 bid (the lowest option).

It will be interesting to see if there are enough last minute customers who jump in to drive the price down to $25 but I don't believe there are enough people nor enough time for it to occur.

Right now Barnes is like tunneling through a mountain; The most effective bids at this point are from new customers at $30 (if there is anyone left! [:P])

BTW this type of CP discussion needs to be nicknamed "Barnes Theory" [H] (I don't feel like I really get anywhere by writing anything on this subject but it still feels good!)

I agree with Thomas - bid what a resource is worth to you.  I have bid below the $90 price point, but above the $30 price point.  At this point, this is what I am willing to pay.

Once the item makes into pre-pub, and a final price is set, I will take a closer look at the final price.  I can either leave my bid alone or raise it based on my finances at that time.  If I don't think I can afford the offered price, I can always walk away from my bid - though that is not my intention when I make the bid.

    Blessings,
    Floyd

    Almost there, kids!

Looks like it's around 85% to me. With other titles I'd call that "almost there" but this one seems to have the curse of perpetuality (CP) hovering over it. It's taken a few months to go from 80% to 85% so it could take the rest of this year to get up to 100%.

    Anyone notice Barns' recent jump?

Now it looks like it over 95%! Almost half of the little ball is already over the 100% mark!

    We are almost there!!!
