Finding which Greek words are translated from the Hebrew in LXX

I'm drawing a blank. Aside from using Emmanuel Tov's parallel LXX/MT how would I search on a Hebrew word to find which Greek words are used to translate it.

For example Shabbat in Gen 3:2 is translated as Katpausen - what other Greek words are translated from Shabbat?

I would expect this to come up in the Bible Word Study report - but it doesn't.

Perhaps there's a resource I need?

The verse is Gen 2:2 (not 3:2), but I just did it using the Septuagint with Logos Morphology (LLS:LOGOSLXX / RVI:LXXHEB). This is a reverse interlinear of the LXX and the BHS (I think). Just right click, select the Hebrew word and run a BWS on it. The circle pops up with all the LXX Greek words that translate shabat. There are 10 main entries and what looks like dozens more!

I would expect this to come up in the Bible Word Study report - but it doesn't.

I thought I'd be smart and set LXX as my preferred Bible. Despite the logic, it didn't work.

I think the resource you are missing is here: Muraoka's Hebrew/Aramaic Index to the Septuagint. I think you were referring to Gen 2:2. I just right click on the word and then select this resource from my prioritized lexicons. Here is a screen shot from Muraoka for the word שַׁבַת. Hope this helps...

EDIT: Just saw Richard's post. Didn't know you could do that. Thanks, Richard. The only bummer with that method is that one has to prioritize the Logos LXX. If you have the SESB one, which has Rahlf's (limited) apparatus, you probably want that one to be your prioritized one rather than the Logos one. Six and a half one way, half a dozen the other.

I tried Rich's demonstration multiple times before posting, it never occurred to me to prioritize the LXX.

So doing as you suggested Richard using (Septuaginta : With Morphology. electronic ed. Stuttgart: Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft, 1979.) I ran the report and still got the NAS instead of the LXX.

I re-prioritized the LXX/HEB above all my bibles and still got just the English.

Finally I had to close Logos (with a massive layout! I'm so glad I can now right click and update layouts!) Restarting Logos and opening the Layout resulted in.... dadadada:English. [:|]

I flat out could not get the Ring to use the LXX. I pondered and pondered, and finally ran "Copy of BWS" from the right click menu. NOW I can get the LXX.

PROBLEM: When you make notes in a BWS it becomes a saved BWS. Even when refreshing the report - the new prioritization just flat out isn't used - unless a second copy is created. Plus, there's no immediate way to overwrite / delete a saved BWS without running it, and choosing delete from the panel menu, but then I lose my notes that I've taken in the BWS.

My question is this: if we have an LXX/HEB RVI in our library, shouldn't searches on Hebrew bring up not only our prioritized English (or German, Spanish etc) translation as well as the LXX? IOW shouldn't we have at least two translation circles (as we do when running a BWS on a Greek word)?

Makes sense to me because the AFAT morphology is used in both Logos LXX & Reverse Interlinear OT!.

I don't normally talk to myself when other people can listen in but.....
Another solution to the problem, which doesn't involve wrangling with changing your prioritization back and forth is to do a Bible search against the Hebrew Lemma and your Logos LXX (or all greek bibles), choose the analysis mode and group by Result.

IOW search <Lemma = af/he/שׁבת:1> in OT/all passages in Greek Bibles.

Just to point out (in the latest beta)...you DON'T have to have your LXX priortized with the new BWS format...you can pick multiple bibles and one of them can be the LXX.
