While I know I can create my own parallel resource within LDLS, it would be an excellent addition to our libraries if we could obtain:

Synopsis of the Four Gospels, English Edition, Kurt Aland, Ed.

ISBN 9780826705006

This resource sells for $29 + s/h through the American Bible Society's Bible.com website (http://www.bibles.com/Category/Bibles/ABS_NEW/Scholarly_Reference.aspx?search=Scholarly_Reference_GospelSynopsys)

It's also available, but vastly overpriced at Amazon.com where it sells for $97 + s/h. Ergo, I'd prefer to pay somethig much similar to the American Bible Society's price Wink

Dale,

You'll be happy to know it is already available! It's not a typical resource, but rather is found in tools-->Bible Comparison-->Parallel Passages and Harmonies. It comes with Scholar's, Scholar's Silver, and Scholar's Gold.

Hope that helps!

Wow, don't I feel silly. Thanks David -- I had it all along and just didn't know it

Unfortunately, my base package was the original languages.  It would be nice to be able to purchase this as a separate program since 95% of the materials included in the various scholar's packages I already own or are irrelevant for my work.

I have the Origianl Languages Library and have the synopsis.  Look under "Tools | Bible Comparison | Parallel Passages and Harmonies."

While I have a number of synopses (Jackson, Robertson, etc), sadly the Aland is not among them.  Unfortunately, that is the one I use in my classes so Libronix has to sit out in most of classes.

Check again.  I think you are mistaken.  When you get the Parallel Passages and Harmonies onscreen, click on the "Source" button on the left.  It should be the next to bottom one.

Nope.  It ain't there.  The next to last one is Jackson's Synopsis of Matthew, Mark and Luke.  I recall telephoning the academic department of Logos some time ago to inquire whether it was available separately.  They asked which base set I had and then I was told that Aland was not available except in the Scholar Library editions.  Thus, two independent sources, e.g., my own eyes and the Logos staff, would seem to confirm that ti is not part of (my) Original Languages edition (ND).  Would that it were otherwise!

Not to beat a dead horse, but being something of a Humean skeptic, I checked the comparion chart of the various editions on the Logos web page.  According to the chart Aland's synopsis is only included in Scholar's Library, Scholar's Library Silver and and SL Gold.

I DO NOT have the Scholar's Library, but I do have Aland.  I don't see what the file is that controls that or I would send it to you.  I think there is a mistake somewhere.  Either you should have it or I should not.  They'll have to pry it out of my cold dead hands if they want it.

I just had a wild idea.  Try downloading and installing the Beta.

George, I don't know, but if you have SESB collection, it might be you got it with it. As I say however, I don't know, since I have it as part of my Gold Edition. If it would be a regular resource, you could see how you got the license. With this resource it is not possible, it is more like an addin to Logos. But in the Description it is written the following:

"The references to parallel sections in the Gospels and the headings and numbers of these sections are taken from Synopsis of the Four Gospels (Greek-English Edition of the Synopsis Quattuor Evangeliorum), edited by Kurt Aland, 12th Edition, © 2001 Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft, Stuttgart."

No SESB so that isn't the answer.

It is NOT listed in your resources under "My Library", but it can be found via Tools>Bible Comparison>Parallel Passages and Harmonies (click on the "Source" button in the upper left corner of the Parallel Passages and Harmonies window to select it.)  It is not a "normal" resource for your library because of the way it is implemented in Libronix, (as a Bible tool rather than as a full book), where you get to select in which of your Bible versions the parallel texts are displayed.

JA -- now that I know what I'm looking for -- look in

C:\Program Files\Libronix DLS\Common\DataFiles\ParallelPassages

The file you're looking for is "AlandSynopsis.lbxplp" - if you don't find it, send me your email to

     dldurnell at earthlink dot net

and I'll forward you a copy of my file -- then, we'll see if we can get it working on your system.

Dale

Now I am truly confused.  Twelve files are listed in the ParallelPassages subdirectory, but only eleven are available through Parallel Passages and Harmonies menu in the Tools section.  The one not available is Aland.  My guess is that it is "locked."  So...while I thank you for the generous offer of the file (52KB), it appears that my not having it is not the problem.
