I was certain I had requested this before, but alas no I had only mentioned it here: The Chronological Life of Christ by Mark Moore - Logos Bible Software Forums

Please, please please, May we have this work in Logos. It's one of the few dead tree reference works I regularly pull off my shelves to consult over thorny questions. I just used it again....

Do you know how different it is to the journal articles it is based on from B. Sacra ?

I didn't even realize those were there Andrew!

After a cursory look, it appears that the book is largely replicated there, sans charts.

Looking at the 1973 publication date, it appears these articles first appeared in Bibsac just before the book was published in 1973.

I love the Journals! I've created a note file called "Chronological Aspects of the Life of Christ" with a separate note linking to each of those, with significant excerpts in each note, so that a search for something like Matt 12:40 will give me a hit in for that notefile. I could have used clippings, but in this instance a notefile seemed better since the note icon shows up in the text to link me back to the full list. And the notefile looks more like a table of contents.

I'm trying to figure out a way to do something like that without replicating so much in the file. So far I've just got the links as above in my Favorites under the title "chronological aspects...."

That doesn't solve the search issue like your solution does Todd. Too bad I can't define a collection at the sub-resource level.

By the way I forgot to list:

Part VI: Daniel's Seventy Weeks and New Testament Chronology Volume 132, Number 525, Page 46

And incidentally Immediately after in BSV135 there is a book review for the newly released book. Which I guess answers which came first the Bibsac article or the book. Answer: Bibsac.

Chronological Aspects of the Life of Christ. By Harold W. Hoehner. Grand Rapids: Zondervan Publishing House, 1977. 176 pp. Paper, $3.95.
In this work Hoehner aims to establish chronologically fixed points for such events as the birth of Christ, the commencement of His ministry, and the year of the crucifixion. Along with these he considers the duration of the Lord’s ministry and the day of the week Christ was crucified. A chapter is also given to a discussion of Daniel’s seventy weeks.
The key to Hoehner’s chronology is the date of the crucifixion which he takes to be A.D. 33.
The subject is very carefully researched and documented, and the arguments are finely honed (pardon the pun!). There is an excellent historical analysis of the situation of Pilate and Herod Antipas in regard to the emperor at the time of the Lord’s crucifixion.
If the book can be faulted at any point, it is its heavy concentration of material. With a paucity of vocabulary Hoehner steps through a vast amount of data. One could only wish that the discussion would be a bit more fully developed.
For an excellent and capable consideration of the subject of the chronology of Christ’s life, this book is very highly recommended.

S. D. Toussaint , vol. 135, Bibliotheca Sacra Volume 135, 538 (Dallas, TX: Dallas Theological Seminary, 1978), 170.

I do agree with Toussaint's complaint that Hoehner uses a "paucity of vocabulary" but only because I wanted more topics - the topics covered are not hampered by the lack of verbosity - they are if anything enhanced by Hoehner's direct manner. Judging from the footnotes referring to it afterward, it quickly was accepted by at least the Bibsac community as an authoritative reference.

BTW, when I said "significant excerpts", I didn't mean large ones. I just put some concluding paragraphs in the note that I felt would give me the search hits I needed.

Ah, well I clearly misunderstood you. :-) I opted for slightly different, I made a Passage list by selecting all the text, copying and then adding to the passage list via clipboard. That should do it... albeit without the direct link.

You could now copy those references out of the passage list and paste them into the body of a note that links to the article. Then you could delete the passage list and just have the (more useful) notefile appear in the search results.

That can be done... Kind of..... If you have the set:

Make your own Chronological Aspects (the workaround)

First create a blank Notefile named appropriately: Chronological Aspects of the Life of Christ

Next, open the links listed in the above posts and select the title (e.g. "Part I: The Date of Christ's Birth")

Right click your selected title, and create a new note in your newly named note file.

Then paste in the verse list as follows.

Part I: The Date of Christ's Birth

Luke 3:1 Luke 2:1 Matthew 2:1 Luke 1:5 Luke 2:1–5 Micah 5:1 Acts 5:37 Luke 2:2 Luke 3:22 Luke 3:23 Luke 3:1–2 John 1:15 John 1:30 John 5:36 1 Corinthians 1:25 John 15:18 John 8:57 Matthew 2:16 Luke 2:12 Luke 2:8 Luke 2:9 Luke 2:11 Luke 2:13 Luke 2:14 Luke 2:20 Luke 2:21 Luke 2:16 Luke 1:59 Luke 1:66 Luke 1:76 Luke 2:17 Luke 2:27 John 16:21 Hebrews 11:23 2 Timothy 3:15

Part II: The Commencement of Christ's Ministry

Luke 3:1–3 Luke 3:1–2 Nehemiah 1:1 Nehemiah 2:1 John 2:13 Luke 3:23 John 6:4 John 11:55 Luke 1:3 Acts 23:26 Acts 24:3 Acts 26:25 John 3:21 Matthew 21:12 Mark 11:15 Luke 19:45 Matthew 27:51 Mark 15:38 Luke 23:45 John 2:14–15 John 5:14 John 7:14 John 7:28 John 8:2 John 8:20 John 8:59 John 11:56 John 18:20 John 2:19–20 John 8:57 John 2:20 Matthew 4:1–11 Mark 1:12–13 Luke 4:1–13 John 1:35–51 John 2:1–11 John 2:12

Part III: The Duration of Christ's Ministry

Luke 3:23 John 8:57 Luke 4:19 Isaiah 61:2 Mark 2:23 Mark 14:1 John 2:13 John 6:4 John 11:55 John 6:10 Mark 6:39 John 5 John 6 John 4 John 7 John 5:1 John 5:19–47 John 7:3 John 1:29 John 1:41 John 2:23 John 3:24 John 4:35 John 5:35 John 7:2 John 10:22 Luke 9:51 Luke 6:1 Matthew 17:24 Luke 13:1 Luke 13:6–9 John 1:29–51 John 1:28–29 John 1:43 John 2:1 John 1:51 Matthew 14:13–21 Mark 6:32–44 Luke 9:10–17 Luke 19:27 John 10:22–42 John 11:1–53 John 10 John 11 Matthew 17:24–27 Matthew 15:1–20 Luke 19:28 John 11:7 John 11:17–18 Luke 13:22 Luke 17:11 John 6:1–15 Matthew 12:1 Exodus 23:14–17 Exodus 34:23 Deuteronomy 16:16 John 7:10 John 7:14 John 7:37 John 12:1 John 13:1 John 18:39 John 19:14 Matthew 4:1–11 Mark 1:12–13 Luke 4:1–13 John 1:35–51 John 2:1–11 John 2:12 John 3:1–21 John 3:22–36 Matthew 4:12 Mark 1:14 Luke 4:14 John 4:3 John 4:4–42 Matthew 4:13–17 Mark 1:14–15 Luke 4:14–15 John 4:43–46 Mark 2:23–28 Luke 6:1–5 Matthew 12:1–8 Matthew 12:22–37 Mark 3:19–30 Mark 6:6–13 Luke 9:1–6 Matthew 15:21–28 Mark 7:24–30 Matthew 15:32–39 Mark 8:1–10 Matthew 16:13–20 Mark 8:27–30 Luke 9:18–21 Matthew 17:19 Mark 9:2–10 Luke 9:28–36 Matthew 19:1 Mark 10:1 Luke 13:21 John 10:42 John 10:22–39 Luke 9:52–56 Luke 10:1–24 Luke 10:25 John 10:40–42 Luke 17:10 John 11:1–54 John 11:54 Matthew 20:34 Mark 10:1–52

It might be good to remove any whole chapter references from that list to reduce spurious hits when searching.
