In an attempt to see how quickly parallel resources could generate, I built a database of all my dictionaries using Logos' index files. As a consequence I've been able to run some statistics on the dictionaries in my library. I thought some of you might find them interesting.

This sample size is all 125 resources that have headword indexes in my library. The total number of headwords is 1,373,181.

wow how did the Liddell end up with nearly 100,000 more entries than any other greek dictionary in your library (and especially 2nd on the list which is his work as well)?  I think it creates a new standard for "exhaustive"

It does describe itself as 'the world's most comprehensive and authoritative dictionary of ancient Greek'! I should add that the intermediate lexicon in second place is a slimmed down version of Liddell!

Very interesting, Mark.

How many entries are in the DBL Greek lexicon?

How many in the other 2 x DBL combined (Hebrew/Aramaic)?

By "num of entries" can we assume 1 resource is responsible for 1 entry?

Thanks,

Yes. I filtered duplicates, so it is "Num of resources that have this entry".

I've put up a Google spreadsheet with all the stats. Have fun!
