SR-1 Beta 1 Release Notes

1. What is SR-1 Beta 1?

SR-1 Beta 1 is the first Beta for the next Service Release (SR) update to the Logos 4 Mac Platform. This is a preview release for users who are comfortable using beta software.

2. How do I get SR-1 Beta 1?

You will need to set "set Update Channel to beta" via the command bar to get this release. The app *WILL NOT* update automatically if you're using the GM
release. You have to explicitly set your update channel to beta via the
command above. Also, if you do this, you will not be able to switch back
to the default update channel until the final version of SR-1 is
released.

3. Why do I have to "Set Update Channel to beta"?
Logos 4 has a concept known as Update Channels which allow the application to look for updates. The default update channel is "stable" and is where stable releases are published. Most users don't want to beta test, they just want the stable code that works. For other users, beta testing is part of the fun and the reward of having the latest code available is worth the risk of finding potential bugs. For those users, we provide a beta channel which allows users to download the newer releases. Since this is opt-in, you have to explicitly enable the beta channel through the command bar.

3. What does this have to do with the official Mac launch on October 1?
The "official" October 1st release is already available and has been since Sept 15th. All users should have been upgraded to that release if they have "Automatically Download Updates" set to Yes in Program Settings. This release is a beta of the next stable release which will be released to the stable update channel once we get through the beta cycle.
