Why does the Bible Word Study limit what words I can enter?

I tried to enter "Lucifer" in the BWS, but it wouldn't accept it--it looks up a similar word (Lucius) if using a new guide or reverts to the last word entered if using an existing guide.  I find this extremely frustrating.

On the other hand, if I right-click on the word in any resource, I can run a BWS on Lucifer (or any other word) without restriction.  I just did a BWS on "Marcion" via the right-click, but that word is also rejected if I try to enter it directly.  The BWS is useful for checking dictionary entries on any kind of word, not just "Bible Words".  (Although Lucifer is a "bible word"-- Is 14:12 KJV )

Why is the BWS entry field restricted? I can't think of any good reason.

I agree, this doesn't make sense at all. I wouldn't mind if the drop-down box only displayed entries from my favourite Bible, but I should still be able to type in any word I wished - particularly as there's a workaround, as described.

I think if you have KJV as your preferred Bible it would then be accepted. I think that's where the list comes from.

Indeed, let's open it up and rename it just "Word Study".

Same behaviour on Mac. Extremely annoying, since I rarely open BWS from inside a resource. Which means that when I can't make it work directly from BWS, I have to first do a search to find an occurrence of the word, before I can do the BWS itself...

You've got a good memory! It's not so much that I've changed my mind, but that I've given up hope of seeing an interim topic search whilst we wait for the LCV tagging to be completed. I'm still at a loss to explain why we haven't got the functionality of the 'plus' tab, on the definitions section of a BWS as a separate tool called 'Topics'.

I would love just to have an entry field added to the Power Lookup window.
