Question on Performance of Home Screen

Hello,

I just updated from stable to beta. Indexing finally completed, but now the home page in Logos runs incredibly slow and is beyond use (takes about 3-5 seconds per letter typed). I have a Macbook Air 2.13 GHZ Core 2 Duo with 4GB of Ram. It ran the stable release "perfectly!". But the beta release was very, very slow. Especially in the home screen.

How do I report this as a bug? What information do you need from me?

Thanks,

Alex Gonzalez

Full Passage Guide layout with all the different windows when reading a book is fast and perfect. My problem is just with the "Home Screen".

Actually... it is only on page 1 on the Home screen... the rest of the pages are fast!

Where are you typing on the Home Screen?

I am running on a MacBook Air 1.86 on Beta and i have no problem with the home page.  You may want to re-install it...

Wondering about version ?  Logos 4.2a (4.21.5.0585) is current version for both Stable & Beta channels

Likewise wonder about refreshing home page using F5

Wiki Mac Troubleshooting page has Uninstalling and Reinstalling in Logos 4 Mac section with couple observations:

    • Nominally needed to fix corrupt application (e.g. ‘You cannot open the application “Logos Bible Software 4” because it is not supported on this architecture.’) – before Uninstalling, recommend restarting Mac (see if issue goes away – common code shares Windows penchant for periodic reboot)
    • If problem is in Logos 4 user files (settings), Reset Logos 4 User Files has steps to reset local user settings (files) without re-download of resources

    Hi Alejandro,

What we think is happening with your home page, is that it is trying to load one of the few very large images from one of the media resources when this occurs. That's why another page is faster. If you find it loading slowly, try pressing F5 to refresh the home page, which will load a different image.

Development is aware of this issue and is looking into a resolution.

Yes. Thank you that was the problem. I refreshed the home page, it loaded another image and it is faster now. I guess one of the images was causing the issue. :)

Thanks for the quick answer! It was a coincidence that this occurred right when I upgraded to the beta version.

Just a question for you, because I have exactly the same AIR and it seems to me that Logos runs slower than I expected. Home screen is slow for me as well, but I wonder... what happens when you do Word Study? Do you also have to wait app. 10-15 sec. than it finds everything or does it go faster for you? I am just wondering if it is usual or if there is some problem. Thanks!!

    Welcome [:D]

Not have Mac Book Air, do have 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo iMac - open Logos 4.2a SR-2 - open ESV to John 1:1-2 - right click Word - click lemma - click BibleWord Study - BWS opened in a new tab in couple seconds, then took 32 seconds to complete all sections.

Regenerating iMac Home Page takes 10 to 15 seconds (using F5).
