I do not know how to get logs or video of what's going on, but I will give you all the details I can.
I started Logos 4 for Mac in the Beta version. At that time, Prayer Requests were not able to be imported from version 3 (Frustration #1). So I had to create a new one. I began to individually add the requests to Logos 4. I do not ever remember it being fast (Frustration #2) But it did get worse as I went along. In fact, I quit after 50 or so. I posted a couple times to the forums and never got a response (Frustration #3). I have over time added more (up to 137) as we speak. I have seen a couple update come and go and my issue wasn't addressed (Frustration #4).
Every time I want to add a single prayer request, I click the 'Edit' link at the top of the home page and it brings up the list withing 3-4 seconds. This is acceptable. I then click the 'Add Prayer' Button. The button stays depressed for several seconds (10-15), then returns to a normal state. But nothing else happens. Then the prayer list appears to be locked up for a time (25-30 or more seconds after the initial 10-15). Eventually I see the blank prayer request text boxes. It is often another 15-20 seconds before the text boxes can receive focus in order to type. This process is entirely too long for adding prayer requests.
It is acting a little differently with this new version. When I click 'Add Prayer', the button still stays depressed for the 10-15 second period and then it appears that it is locked up for the additional 15-20 seconds before a check box appears on the left. The new prayer requests never gets the focus. I then have to click on the empty request and it is another 10-15 seconds before I see the text boxes in which I can type the request.
Deleting also takes 15-20 seconds from the time I click the red circle with an 'X' to the time the prayer request disappears from the list.

Eric,
As an experiment, can you turn Internet Off (Tools / Program Settings), then restart Logos, then test the prayer requests speed? I want to see whether it is the internet sync which is causing the problem.

Thanks for uploading the video. Wow, that is slow! I don't have this problem on my 2007 17" MBP with only 2GB RAM! Are other features as slow as this for you in L4, or is it restricted to the Prayer Lists?

The Prayer List is the only thing this slow. But there are other things that take longer than I think they should.

Thanks, Eric. I've requested one of the Mac developers comes and looks at this for you. There's nothing obviously wrong in the logs.

Logos4.log shows 5 time lags varying from 17 seconds to 61 seconds to clear ImportID for the same Prayer List document (total of 179 seconds to complete)
Looking forward to Logos developer insight (and suggestions).

Eric ~ Thank you for uploading logs and video. Development is aware of this issue and is working on a fix. Until a fix is available, you might try organizing your prayers into multiple prayer list documents rather than one prayer list document with more than 50 prayers to see if that helps performance.

I appreciate the suggestion, but entering those prayer requests in multiple lists would be just as much of a pain as dealing with the slowness of adding and deleting. I'll just wait on a fix.

Eric, this is not an official response, but it's likely to be weeks, if not months. The thing to do is to keep an idea on the Mac Beta release notes to see what bugs are fixed with each release.

Ooh, that's encouraging. Eric, it was worth putting that video together! (In answer to your next question: "When is the next 4.2a service release", I don't know! But as you're on a Mac, it might not be too long. The fix might also be included in the next beta (presumably 4.2b) when that's released, so keep an eye out for that, too.)

Hallelujah!!!!! It works much faster. The only slow part is when I first click the 'Add Prayer' button it takes about 4-5 seconds to bring up new entry. I still don't like having to click on it to be able to enter the data, but I can deal with that. Everything else (clicking between prayer requests, deleting, etc. ) is very fast.

Great, glad that fixed things. I've submitted a request to be considered to have newly added prayers be expanded with cursor in 'Prayer name' field when they're added.

wow, this is so much faster for me! granted, it's not what I would consider "fast" but definitely usable and will keep me going in my Logos prayer list, as I was thinking of finding a new solution. Thanks to everyone who worked on speeding this feature up!
