Nelson's 3-D Bible Mapbook
Hi I am new to logos. I have an ipad, pc, and a hard copy of Nelson 3d Maps. The hard copy of the 3d maps has bible references on the top of each page. The logos electronic copy does not. It does have chapters. But then I figured that I needed to have a bible loaded to reference the 3d maps. For some reason, I cannot figure out how have the bible passage and associated map pop up at once. I hope I am making sense. Letitia

Letitia,
Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately the 3-D Map book in Logos format is not indexed by scripture reference so there is no way to do what you would like to do. It looks like this resource would need to be rebuilt to get the maps tagged with scripture references. I do not know why Nelson chose to release the resource in this format, but that is why you cannot get the the Bible working with this resource.

Mark, thanks, that explains. But the hard copy at least had the bible references at the top of all the pages so it was really easy to find stuff. But in the software version, no references.
Is there a way to see if a title has or has not been indexed by scripture reference?

I also purchased Nelson's Complete Book of Bible Maps and Charts, Revised and Visual Survey of the Bible. Are those not indexed as well?

Letitia ... the way you check how resources are indexed in Logos4 is, when the resource is open, click on the little 'i' (info) in the upper right of the resource window. Then scroll down to the section 'Indices' ('Bible' for Bible references). In Libronix, you go up to 'Help' and click on 'About this resource'.
To solve the problem you're mentioning, I put all my maps in Favorites and then labeled them by the approximate year for sorting (e.g. a Paul map 55ce). Or you could group them by Bible book etc. It's not easy, but it's a one-time task. You just drag the tab for a map into your favorites and rename it.

Thanks Denise, how do you find out if a title is indexed before you purchase it?

Ok, I feel like a dork. Nelson's 3d maps are indexed and so are my other purchases. I needed to use the "search" feature which is different from "Bible" and "Passage Guide".

Well, technically it's impossible to feel like a dork with Logos; that is limited to competing Bible software (just joking).
One of the limitations of the Logos.com site is its product descriptions are 'just barely'. Mainly marketing copy by folks often not that familiar with the product (thus often needing to go to Amazon to see what it is). That's why we started 'Resource Review' (http://wiki.logos.com/Resource_Review) so potential buyers (and users) can see things like the indexing, example pages, plus any available forum discussions. It's a baby so far.
The reason you're not a dork is that 'indexing' and 'searching' are not the same ... a resource can support a search, but not necessarily be linkable. In Libronix, in the info panel, this was made clear. In the Logos4 info panel, you kind of have to deduce the difference, unless you're experienced.
But it's nice you're working your way through the software. It's quite powerful.

Logos 4 has lots of powerful features. Getting Started with Logos includes links to videos created by Pastor Mark Barnes Excellent Unofficial Logos 4 Training Videos (watching all videos recommended).

Letitia, I added several maps/charts products to our wiki Resource Review pages.
I included your question here: http://wiki.logos.com/Resource$3a_Nelson's_3-D_Bible_Mapbook
