A while ago I went through my library and tried to collect journal articles that deal with specific verses or passages in 2 Corinthians. I organized these into a note file called "2 Corinthians Articles" (screen shot below) as a way of complementing the commentary section of a Passage guide with material that would otherwise not show up.

I've begun to translate that list into the 2 Corinthians Reading List. If you scroll to the bottom of the list you will see a section called "Chapter Outline." Would my finishing this list be useful to you? Do you see it as a possible valuable supplement to the passage guide? Would you want similar lists available for other books of the Bible?

<EDIT> Forgot the promised screen shoot...

This is very interesting, but a lot of work, too. It is a shame we can't yet share note files. Do you think it worth the wait for that rather than having to create a current work-around?

Could we shoehorn it into the Reading List format? This is definitely useful work you're doing.

Is there an advantage to doing this over just searching for the applicable scripture in the top search bar?  When I search for, say, 2 Cor 4.4 I get your same hit on "Hard Sayings of the Bible":

Am I missing something?

For my purposes I'm not interested in finding all the resource locations that use a verse to support an idea. Instead I'm interested in finding all the resources that explain a verse/passage. Therefore I did a search of all non-commentary resources where Corinthians appears in the Large Text (headers). Many references that appear in headers are not tagged as references so I went with the generic "Corinthians" and "corinth" search. I think I found a couple by searching for " Cor" as well. Then I had to weed out just the ones that dealt with 2 Corinthians and list them according to the exact verses they elaborated on. When I do a search for 2 Corinthians 4:4 in my library I come up with 26 pages of search results. There is no way I'm going to be able to weed out the ones that truly explain that passage before my sermon is due on Sunday. When I do a search for 2 Corinthians 4:4 in the Large Text of my resources I get 0 results, even though one resource I found deals with 2 Corinthians 4:4. When I simply searched for Corinthians the Hard Sayings came up, and I was able to list all the verses manually after that.

I'm not sure how much of that made since, but its my attempt at an explanation anyway :-) Of course, I'm more then open to an easier way that accomplishes what I'm after!

This is like having a personal librarian doing your research in the library and weeding through everything to find what is truly relevant within the parameters you set. From that perspective it is quite valuable work and much better than simple searching. It is a lot of work, though.

Yes, especially if you can get it into Reading Lists, as Martha suggested. We would all appreciate the hard work this will require.

I put together a reading list of Titus titled "Titus Reading Outline." If anyone had ideas for improvement please let me know. Since I need to study Titus for a Bible Study coming up I figured it was a good one to start with.

Really nice, Phil. Thanks for sharing your work and taking the time to get it in this format. It raises the bar for the rest of us.

Very nicely done. My only suggestion (which I will actually do for you) is to link the standard Titus reading list to this reading list.

I've transposed my notes on 2 Corinthians into  the "2 Corinthians Reading Outline." Something tells me there are more goodies out there to discover, but this is what I have put together so far. thanks for all your input!

If anyone has a better name for these then "Reading Outline" I am certainly open for suggestions. Something tells me there is a better description out there.
