Important changes to sync feature coming in 4.3 Beta 6
Those affected will
be customers using the same login information for both a Beta and a stable
version of the program. The syncing will only be affected in the stable
version. Any new copy formats or edits to any existing custom formats on
the stable install will fail to sync. These items will be synched to the server
when 4.3 is released to the stable channel and the new sync version is in use
on both channels.
All
other data will continue to sync to the server normally.
The re-writing of the
sync feature is being done in order to pave the way for some exciting future
features (groups, sharing, collaboration, etc.)

Thannks Tonya. Sounds like PBB is almost out the door. The sharing of notes and collaboration of other ? documents sounds good.

- affects only CBV changes?
- sync from stable 4.2 to beta 4.3 will not occur, but changes will not be lost?
- sync from beta 6 to beta 6 will work?
But what happens with sync from beta to stable?

Tom that is not normal. Unless you have large files, and lots of them, syncing should take a few minutes at the most. I would recommend that you upload logs so that one of the more knowledgeable person may look at them, or call tech support in the morning.

Lynden,
as far as I can see, Tom really has large files and lots of them and a special way to sync only temporarily between two or more computers. This info comes from a thread somewhere here that he has mainly for himself (save for Melissa from Logos, IIRC) where he posts logs every few days, when his long sync is interrupted by a Logos crash. I think his installation is very special and judging by the frustration that one can feel in Tom's posts, I don't think that a look into this by knowledgeable persons or a quick call to tech support will help anything.
So, the good advice that helps in many other cases might not be the best in Tom's situation.

Correct.

A 4.2 install will no longer sync CBV style changes until it is upgraded to 4.3. Any changes you make on 4.2 will sync once that client is upgraded.

Yes, if both machines are on beta 6 changes on either should be reflected in the other.
Dave Hooton said:But what happens with sync from beta to stable?
Stable will not see any of the changes you make on the beta. Sync for CBV will be disabled, on Logos 4 versions prior to 4.3 Beta 6, once you upgrade any client to 4.3 Beta 6.

Thanks Mick,
You are 100% correct. I have lots of notes, and some of my note files are huge.
