I must admit that I don't understand Vyrso.  Perhaps this is because it has yet to be realized.  I downloaded the app and fired it up......  and it is exactly like the Logos Bible app that already exists.  Only not as powerful?  Is this simply going to be a separate store front to buy trade books?  If so, why the separate app since Logos 4 books show up in the Vyrso app and the Vyrso books will show up in the Logos app?  I'm sure there's a really good reason that I'm just missing.

It's for people who only want to read trade books in it and don't want the whole Logos Bible study software thing. We who already have Logos probably won't need it, unless we want a stripped down app for just reading e-books on our portable device.

If that is the case, Logos is going to have to meet the big boys on price.  If I want to read a trade Christian book and not care if it plugs into my Logos library (which would be the audience I'm assuming this is aiming at) I buy it at one of the competitors (I don't want to advertise my favorite!).  If I want to have the functionality of being searchable, indexed together with my resources, etc, I pay the extra price to get it on Logos.

Vyrso is designed to be a great reader. It doesn't have complex Bible-study-specific features, and when you tap a word it'll eventually give you an English dictionary definition rather than a reverse interlinear lookup. It jumps right into reading, rather than featuring a home page, etc.

If you like the Logos Bible app (and who wouldn't!) you don't need Vyrso, but we want to reach people who may be looking for Christian eBooks, not necessarily a "Bible study" tool.

Bob -

I think it is a great idea, and hopefully it will introduce others to Logos as well. Does this mean that we will be getting new titles more quickly?

I'm looking for mostly P&R titles, will Logos/Vyrso be releasing any P&R titles soon, they such a limited selection via Kindle and none via iBook. I prefer the iBook/epub format over Kindle because it allows to change font types, multiple highlight colors, limited copy and paste [on some titles], which is helpful for preparing group studies, book reviews or blog articles.

This seems like a great thing for me, depending on what books are available. I've read a few things over my time, and later realized that it would make a great quote for a sermon or article, and have to go back and find it. If it's in Logos, it can be part of my searches....

I haven't played with it yet, but am hopeful that if I buy a book in one app (Vyrso) I can also read it in my main one (L4).

I'm hoping that this portends more publishers making their products available in Logos...David C. Cook are you listening?

ok. I bought one of the books at the Vyrso site. It works with the iPad Vyrso app, L4 iPad app, and L4 PC version. It doesn't show up in my Libronix software even though there is a update script for it in my order page. So if thes ebooks will not work with Libronix I won't be buying any more of them.

This is possibly good news. Since L4 all I can really use the program for is reading on the ipad. It is a great library for sure, just to slow, buggy and lack of notes capacity etc....

So it may be that I can drop L4 future upgrades and slowing of the computer, get vyrso and keep the books i've bought to read already!

I take it "eventually" means it won't do this just yet... I tried it on someone else's mobile device, to see what its about, and well the English definition has eventuated.....

At the moment it just appears to be the Logos 4 iPhone app feature stripped and a change of graphics, rather than any significant breakthrough in e-reader software, ....looking forward...and hoping things like this and more eventually do happen to distinguish between the two apps....and of course an android version of Logos Mobile apps so I can make a choice about what mobile platform I eventually choose to go with....second half of 2011 would be ...: )
