I am new to Mac. When I install logos, it downloads 1xGB data. That's completely normal.

Things got weird after it is done, and I start to use Logos, discovering that lots of titles are missing.

Then I ran 'update resources'. About 3GB of data is downloaded.

And I still find something missing.

I ran 'update resources' again. Then about 2GB of data is downloaded.

And something is still missing.

i just ran 'update resources' again. It now downloads 1.16GB of data.

But I have no idea if the resources are fully downloaded.

Do you have any idea how to solve this issue?

Thanks.

By the way, I have about 6xx resources. I never experienced that in my Logos 4 on PC.

P.S. it now downloads 972.1MB of data.

P.S. It now downloads 787.1MB of data.

P.S. It now downloads 631.7MB of data.

Are you using the Beta or Stable version?

This is a known issue in the Mac Beta as per the release notes:

Startup

  • Resource downloads may occur in stages and large downloads may time out.

See http://wiki.logos.com/Logos_4.3_Beta_5 for full set of notes

Resource download in stages also happens using stable Logos 4.2b SR-1; have restarted Logos 4 Mac many times to continue downloading and indexing.

ok... thanks...

The version I use is the one show up in the order page. 4.2b SR1.

I didn't expect that is still in SR...

I planned to download everything on a fast network. Once I go home it keeps downloading it through my slow network on my iPhone.

Anyway, it put the unlimited 3G plan on my iPhone to the ultimate test...

I am now downloading the n-th resources. One 'good' thing is that I observe that the download size is monotonic decreasing. And since it has finitely many resources, it means that it is going to converge and end soon.

Now, the resource size is 69.8MB.

Concur, seems each stage does download some resource files so next restart has fewer files queued for download.

Looks better than GB's posted earlier.

Done! Finally downloaded the smallest final one and now I start 'rebuild index' for all resources.

Could you tell me other things I should be careful when I use the Logos 4 Mac version (from a Windows background)?

thanks.

Wiki has Mac and PC User Interface Differences page that includes Feature Parity section since Logos 4 on PC has more usable features than Mac.

Thankful for Bob Pritchett's post => What Logos development is doing that includes:

Bob Pritchett:
Windows has more users than Mac, but Mac is behind and needs improvement, and it is gaining market share on the way to 50%. We consider it equally important to Windows, and already are at the point where some new work is Mac first, then ported to Windows.
