"Trusted by Scholars. Right for Mac. Right for PC. Right for iPhone, Right for ME!"
Bob,
Thank you for the gracious reply. I'll keep my eyes on the Logos stuff but probably won't be buying anything right now. I will admit I enjoy the iPhone app already. I'd love to have my Accordance library accessible on my iPhone the way that Logos users will with their material. You guys are doing a good job with that stuff for sure!
Joe Miller: Jack, Jeremy is a good example of why I would not purchase Accordance. They don't have Alpha software, just Alpha users.

It's neither here nor there I guess at this point, but as someone who is both a Logos user and has been an Accordance user for an even longer time, I resent the statement above. It may have not been aimed at me, but it hit me.

Yeah, sometimes when the lead starts flying, people get hit.
But if you are familiar with Joe Miller, you'd be happy to have him on your side at the OK Corral. Joe is sometimes quick to speak but he is also quick to apologize. He is at all times sincere.

Hi, I am a brand new Mac user and a brand new Logos user. I just downloaded the L4 Mac version scholars library. It did complete downloading and indexing but It keeps freezing up on me and I have to keep force quitting it. I don't see any of the things the demo video shows as what it is supposed to look and function like. Any help is much appreciated Thanks, Mike
Hi L4mac is stil in Alpha. To run the full production version on Mac you need to use a windows emulator like VMWare fusion. All your settings and work in the Windows version will get synced to the native mac version in development (it already works for my settings). In the next few months, you should be able to switch 100% to the L4mac without any loss of work.
I hope that helps,
Joe
To sum up the advice from Logos to Mac users: Just install Windows on your Mac and Logos 4 will run great!
"Designed for You. Trusted by Scholars. Right for Mac. Just as long as you run Windows"
Jeremy Writebol:I am sorry if I came across as a jerk... I'm just trying to get some feel for the Logos system and figured the passionate users who are also Mac users could help me out...
Hey Jeremy, I am a Mac user (I also run Windows under Fusion a bit) and I'd be happy to discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each programme privately by email. Just email me at donovan (at) dmpnet.org I use both Logos and the other programme you mention. For example, mapping is much stronger with one programme as opposed to the other. Some research materials are available in one and not the other. If you lurk around on these forums, you will find Mac users who don't only use one Bible software product... and certainly there are Windows users who do the same.
I like what Bob said one time... Logos is not into software replacement. Evaluate the options and choose what is best for you. In some cases, some users may find that owning two (or even more in rare cases) is necessary to cover the abilities and options you need. No software product is perfect in every way unfortunately.
Regardless, you will find you will need to employ some patience with the current Mac offerings from Logos. The product line is almost a year old and therefore needs further time and investment to develop. It is improving every month though and us long term Logos Mac users are generally extremely grateful for Logos for Mac because Logos brings to OSX a bunch of resources that we can't get at present any other way. This is particuarlularly the case for Mac users who have switched from Windows in the last two years who had sizeable investments in our resource libraries.
