Hello,

I have licenses from SESB (Stuttgart Electronic Study Bible) 3.0 (German version from German Bible Society) and I would like to apply ressources and features from SESB (for example: German lexicon to greec and hebrew bible) into the android-app from logos.

I have already installed the Logos Software Bible (Android-App). I can also use some Lexicons online...

Can I use the German SESB modules to software off-line and can I use my SESB licences?

Sincerely,

Ilian

The SESB is not currently available for our mobile applications. You can see that here: http://www.logos.com/product/5181/stuttgart-electronic-study-bible by looking in the "Works On:" section.

We are working on getting licenses for all of our resources on the mobile applications. Once we do that book will appear in your library.

Thanks,

- Hunter Clagett

Thank you for your answer!

Can I use at the moment the modules in the library off-line (if I have the suitable licences of the SESB)? If not, do you plan such a thing in the future?

Sadly, no. The issue is that we are required to have a licensing agreement with the publisher to provide their resources on the mobile device itself, regardless of whether the resources are downloaded locally.

I'm not sure if I've understood everything (my English is not very good).
Do you have no contract with SESB or the German Bible society? If I have licenses, can I not do something?

Some modules can use to download and is currently offline. Remains so in the future version from android-app?

Ilian,

ilian:

the problem is that contracts differ with respect to the "distribution channel" that is covered. So someone who is allowed to print the book on paper may not be allowed to produce an e-book or an audiobook. And someone who is allowed (=has the licence) to produce an e-book and distribute to PCs may not be allowed to distribute to mobile devices. This is the case here.

The policy of Logos is to make the resources available on any platforms they are allowed to - "pay once read anywhere" - whereas some publishers don't want to support this (maybe because they want to be able to sell themselves on other platforms exclusively, maybe because they fear increased risk of intellectual property theft, maybe they just don't want to renegotiate existing contracts that exclude newer platforms).

Normally, if Logos provides something to you on Android, it will be available also in future versions. In rare cases, publishers make Logos to withdraw resources, but this is not related to Logos versions. In (hopefully much more) other cases, Logos may make resources available for mobile platforms that formerly weren't.

Hope this helps,

Mick

What language is better? Logos has customers around the world, so there is a good chance that someone here in the forums can help out (in case of German, one of the someones would be me)

Thank you for your reply! Vielen Dank für Ihre Antwort!

Then I wait, how everything evolved ...

At this point I want to thank you that you make these resources available and that much can already use offline!
I'm looking forward to the further development of this application and to wish them God's blessing!

P.S. Currently I use an online translator and if I'm not Wieter, then I ask you for help. If you speak German, you can answer me in German. thank you!

(for those of you who don't read German: I talk with Ilian about the German language SESB forum and how to get help here in the Logos forum even if he is not fluent in English)

Mick

Ilian

(we still discuss the non-Android-License of SESB - maybe the SESB 4 will allow mobile use [hoping for it])

ilian:

Ja.

Mick
