With the launch of Vyrso the Foundations of Evangelical Theology Series is current in Logos/Vyrso.  The only problem is that none of the books have been tagged for their series metadata.  Could the series tag be designated for all 4 books in this series?

on Logos' website:

No One Like Him: The Doctrine of God
The Cross and Salvation: The Doctrine of Salvation

On Vyrso's website:

To Know and Love God: Method for Theology
He Who Gives Life: The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit

Thanks for making the whole series available in Logos!

    Paul,

First: I fully support your suggestion - and herewith bump it up for others to do likewise for Logos to see.

Second: I find it interesting to see a series which is on the broad borderline between "theological trade books" and "bible study & theology resources". Do you have all of the resources? Are there noticable differences in tagging, linkage, usability for Logos studies etc with the Vyrso books, i.e. are the Vyrso books noticably lower quality?

I only have "The Cross and Salvation" in paper and didn't feel shelling out the dollars Logos asks for it was worth having it (maybe I'll reconsider sometimes). But I was contemplating to buy the two Vyrso ones.

    Thanks

    NewbieMick,

I would most likely be unaware of this series had it not been for two elective classes I took where we analyzed both The Cross and Salvation: The Doctrine of Salvation and He Who Gives Life: The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit.

The strength of these two books (in digital format) in particular are their interactions with Scripture.  I did not own the digital version of He Who Give Life while going through it in class but did use The Cross and Salvation digitally in class and found it revolutionary in the way I digested books that cite a lot of scripture.  I was able to hover over verses while reading how the author used them.  Our constant assignment was to either agree or disagree with the author's use of scripture to justify his writing.

I'm satisfied with having the series in both Logos or Vyrso as the scripture tagging is the real gem to owning them.  the Vyrso version does just as good a job as the Logos version.  The only drawback to the Vyrso version as opposed to owning it in Logos is the ability to jump to a certain page number.  In class we would jump to certain spots in the book and it was usually the professor rapidly exclaiming "now go to page xxx".  If you've read the book though it isn't hard to use the TOC both versions provide to get close.

Recommendation: buy the Vyrso versions for sure.  It will maximize your use of the author's scripture references and the hundreds of footnotes readily available throughout the work.  I find the Logos versions incredibly over priced outside of academic pricing.  However I believe this series digitally maxamizes much of what makes Logos so great!

[EDIT] - to be fair to Logos they simply charge the price Crossway recommends for the Logos versions of the books in the series.  I'm bewildered at how they permitted the Vyrso versions to sell at such a low price!

    Thanks Paul,

you have "sold" the two Vyrso books to me, and from what I see at first sight, I don't regret it!!

Reviving this old thread: Logos typically doesn't do such things on Vyrso resources - but we now can edit series tags by ourselves! I just did so for the books from this series I have.

While we are at it: Rosie just suggested completing this series: seems we are missing "Sojourners and Strangers: the Doctrine of the Church"
