Hi,

I would like to make the Bible available in my Wordpress site, I have been looking at the Biblia.comEmbeddedBible plugin, but it does not appear to work when pasted into a page.

I know WP is tricky about code in post and pages, does anyone know the right workaround for this?

Or a good WP ready plugin?

Mant thanks,

Andrew

I, too, am interested in knowing the answer to this.  I am using Wordpress.com which does not allow the installation of plug-ins.  I assume that I have to manually include links to Ref.ly by hand?  Or is there another way?  I look forward to answers from those experienced in this... thank you.

I use the reftagger plugin which appears to have been converted to Biblia.com.

My hosting company obviously allows plug-ins. To enter it manually, i would

  1. search for a website using Logos and Wordpress (both terms should appear on the page as credits),
  2. do a view source to see where the plug-in code resides
  3. do a search on the WordPress templates to find which part(s) are responsible for the page parts containing the code
  4. insert the code in those parts

Logos4catholics Orthodox Bishop Hilarion Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."

FYI: Wordpress.com (hosting) does not allow installation of plugins nor the usual pasting of code.  Some limited URL HTML insertion will work.  Which is the only way that I can see by which I can use this--a manual insertion by hand of an a-href tag.

Any news on making this work?

I don't know how we can fix this; it's Wordpress.com that doesn't support plugins. (See http://en.support.wordpress.com/plugins/

If anyone knows of a workaround, we're open to hearing it.

Make one for Wordpress blogs that don't use wordpress.com like mine. That's all I want. Most wordpress blogs are not on Wordpress.com and do support plugins. I have many installed on my blog.

You can already copy and paste the Biblia code into any number of plugins that allow you to put arbitrary HTML in a widget.

The Verse of the Day can be added to a wordpress.com blog. Choose "Single Image mode", and then the code will work in Wordpress.com text widget: http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/text-widget/

There's no workaround for interactive plugins on wordpress.com though. They're banned: http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/

What I'm hoping for is a plugin that I could add to a self hosted Wordpress blog. They are not banned because I host the code on my personal website NOT at Wordpress.com. Actually the majority of wordpress blogs are not hosted at Wordpress, com. Other bible sites have an interactive bible tool for WP.

There is always my ESV plugin. :) Haven't done much with it since Reftagger came out, and like Reftagger's plugin, it only works on WordPress sites not hosted via WordPress.com, but it's another option out there.

True. However it would be great to have a "native" plugin that one could find by searching the WordPress plugin directory.

I have one blog post addressing this exact issue: read the first few paragraphs

http://ricklivermore.wordpress.com/2011/03/06/biblical-outline-on-the-baptism-by-means-of-the-holy-spirit/

One workaround is to use blogspot like I do when it comes time to embed references in your writing with a reference tagger script.

an example of a working biblia.com plugin is located here:

an example of a working bible.org plugin is located here:

http://reader222.blogspot.com/

If you have a smart phone the plugin or script requires a stylus to work like the mouseover functionality of a desktop computer of laptop computer. My visitors are almost all desktop computer or laptop computer users,

here is a list of Pageviews by Operating Systems taken from the first of the two working plugin sites I designed:

Windows 1,009 (82%)
Macintosh 74 (6%)
Android 60 (4%)
iPhone 58 (4%)
Linux 18 (1%)
Other Unix 4 (<1%)
iPad 3 (<1%)
The problem is, who uses a stylus on their smartphone?

I just tried to create a new page with the bible plugin and it shows nothing but a blank page, so doesn't seem to be compatible with WP

If you add a Text widget to a Wordpress widget area, and paste in the two parts of the Biblia javascript code into the text box, it will work. For a short-time you can see this in action at http://www.logos4training.com/ (bottom right of the screen).

If you want this in the "main body" of a page use the plugin Atiss Code Embedd with Wordpress.  Here is a link:  http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/simple-embed-code/screenshots/  You can view the results on my site here:  http://www.theminksreport.org/bible-study/
