I really like clippings...they are a bit of a OneNote clone inside Logos....

I do wish you could somehow assign copys to different clippings....

I also wish that you could make hyperlinks in them

But with all of that....I still really think that they are very promising...

What do you mean "assign copys"?  A copy button to put it in the clipboard?

Sorry for being unclear...

When you right click a section you want to put in a clipping...you only get "last created clipping" and no way to have more than one clipping to paste to....

I don't know exactly what I want but I'd like to have the option to paste to one of the "last 3 clippings" or something....

I can't test it right now... it's supposed to default to "last open" clippings; is that not working? (So if you have any one clippings document open, clippings should go to that one, even after you close it.)

That is what happens. But sometimes we don't want it going to the last opened. I would even opt for an "unfiled" clippings document that they go to by default and can then  be sorted to at a different date, Like OneNote's system. Or give us a way to choose which clipping it goes into.

I realize you all probably already know this - but I am using tags to get the kind of multi-clipping I think you are talking about. I create a tag for different clipping groups and can sort them by that group anytime I want. Just a suggestion. Would be nice to have them in separate files though too.

I would definitely prefer an additional flyout on the menu that instead of pointing to the last clipping file would open again to all our clipping files.   Though I confess this could get unwieldy.

I think the Clippings feature has great potential. I'm just not sure it works the way I think/hope it does.

I've been looking for something that allows me to take notes on books. Ideally, the default would be to view the notes taken on each book, but each quote would also have a tag. That way, I could pull up all my quotes about "monotheism" or "covenant" without having to remember what book it was, or hunt manually through a bunch of different notes from the same book.

Right now I just use Word files for each book, and Spotlight indexes them all.

I've created a clipping, and copied several quotes to it from books and tagged them. But when I search for a tag, it opens the clipping that has a notecard with that tag and every other one in the clipping as well, not just those with that tag...

Bob,

As someone said...yes it does ..that's my beef...lol.

I also use OneNote and it does one of a few things:

1.) Paste to an unfiled note

2.) Paste to last used

3.) Paste to clipboard only.

I just use the clippings a lot and I really like them...but i jump around and don't always work on something until it's complete...I'd like some way to decide upon rigtht clicking; which one it goes into.

OR

Like one note...default to unfiled or use a "folder" style system...

But I didn't start this thread to bash your baby...it was actually to praise it... :)

What do you mean by make hyperlinks in them? Did you notice the formatting bar at the top of the clippings tab? I just noticed it myself. It does allow you to format text to be a hyperlink, either in the note section or in the clipping section. keep in mind this is only for web links at present. They are working on Logos links.

I was wanting to be able to highlight text inside a clipping and link it to something inside or outside logos...that's all

The reference has to be fully formated for it to work. Highlight what you want linked and then put in http://www.logos.com The http and www has to be there.

By all means, promote away...We have plenty of ammo for poor Thomas, and I've certainly shown myself the fool. Damien can be taunted for his patch....we could go on and on. We all need something we can't live down. :-)

Simply Brilliant...We should be fair though. Lets give TC 5 minutes to voice his opinion before the decision is binding.
