When I installed the 4.5 update Logos quite working. I got a message that windows was searching for a solution. Logos is totally disabled. Is anyone else having this problem?

There are a number of possibilities but it is similar to other problems experienced today. Check out those recent threads.

Welcome
One option is contacting Logos => http://www.logos.com/about/contact
Other option is posting log files for others to look at (prefer zip files. Wiki has => http://wiki.logos.com/Diagnostic_Logging
From other forum posts, am aware of Logos 4.5 issues with Avira and Webroot.

Same problem here. My Mac is working fine after the update but Logos will not launch on my Windows machine after the update.
Found the problem! Webroot had quarantined logos 4 files!
Thank you! That fixed my problem too. What a relief!
I have had the same problem - Logos won't run on one of my Windows machines after the update. It starts "Preparing your library", but then says that Logos4 has stopped working and has been shut down. I traced it back to a fatal exception error and it is somehow related to the UserPreferences and UserPreferences2 folders in the Documents directory - it crashes as soon as these folders are created. I have tried a complete uninstall (even going into the registry and removing traces of Logos) and I have also tried reinstalling an earlier version, but still have the same problem...

WebRoot quaratined file "Logos.Documents.Contracts.dll" as malware.
I allowed the file, but got the admin. message during update installation that I don't have admin permission. Found the file and it had 0 kb. Deleted the file and started over, again allowing the file in WebRoot.
Logos4 is now "First-Time Indexing"...
I don't have a good feeling about this :(

If you have reinstalled 4.5 and the crash message is the same as in this post (your crash log is in \Documents\Logos Log Files\)

then try the advice for recovery.
I didn't know if I should start a new thread or not, but Logos still crashes on startup. The error I am getting is:
Error ID: 7266Error detail: ArgumentException: No key may be null.

This PC is runnning Windows XP SP3 and is not connected to the internet. I have been using this since L4 came out and have not had a problem until I updated to 4.5.
All my updates to the program and to my license and resources, I do manually and have not had a problem until now. It is working fine on my main PC and my laptop. Any help appreciated - Thanks!

Tom,
It looks like the error with UserPreferences2. Did you delete that file before and get Logos to work?

This problem occurs with a fresh install of Logos, before any of the folders are created under the Data folder or the documents folder. I can see the folders being created and it crashes after the Preferences2 folder is created.
Since reinstalling, Logos 4 will not start. The crash occurs while it says "Preparing your library." Yes, I have tried deleting the folder, but the results are the same...
Thanks for responding...
Since others have been having problems with antivirus software have you looked into that? I know the symptoms are different but perhaps it is worth a check. Webroot and Avira seem to be the culprits. If you have either of those I'd definitely check. (I'm using Norton w/o any problems.)

Please explain step-by-step how you are doing this manually from your previous working installation (what version?).
What anti-virus program do you have?

I assume this means that you have never "signed in" on this Windows XP computer, and are always working offline? There may be a bug in the user preferences in 4.5 that crashes in this situation; we will investigate further.
Yes, it is correct that I never "sign in" on this computer. I simply copy my resources folder, my license file and occassionally my collections and/or bookmarks. I always copy the update files after an update on a "connected" computer and run the update on the offline computer. This has never been a problem until the most recent update. The odd thing is, I tried uninstalling and then re-installing with an update from early December that I still had and it had the same results at startup. This isn't a show-stopper for me, since it runs fine on my main PC and laptop, but I would still like to get it going, if possible. Thanks for looking into it...
This should be fixed in 4.5 SR-4 (shipping soon); please let us know if you continue to have problems after installing that update.
The latest worked like a charm. Thank you!
