Read Aloud Location
Hey there,
How do I control where Read Aloud starts? It always seems to start at the beginning of a book even if I have text selected.

I think that's a regression bug. This didn't happen earlier, but I confirm that right now it jumps backward to the first major division.
I just tried to read in 1 clement 3:1 an it jumped back to start at 1:1

SR-6 was just released and appears to fix this problem. Let us know if the problem continues after updating.

Go there to 1Clement 3:1 and CTRL+R will jump to 1 Clement 1:1.

I have found that if I place the mouse pointer in the command boax under the resource that is opened, the reading will start there, but if I use control R inside the document it goes back to the place the document was opened at.

I've also figured out at least part of the issue.
Read aloud is jumping to the start of the page, not the start of the letter. since #:1 and 1:1 are on page 5, it jumps to the head of the page. I tried it with 10:1 and it jumped to 7:1 which is the beginning of the page.
This should not be page specific but paragraph specific IMHO.

I open the Ante-Nicene Fathers: Volume I to 1 Clement 3 and press Ctrl+R (or choose Read Aloud from panel menu) and it starts reading at "Chapter III.--The Sad State of the Corinthian Church ..."

Sorry for my ignorance but what exactly are the steps you need to get Logos to read something aloud?

Load a resource in L4 and choose one of the following:
- type: start reading aloud in the command bar.
- CTRL+R
- Click the book icon for your resource and select the read aloud function.

I learned soo much about this great Read Aloud feature especially for Greek Texts.

If you're interested, there's a very good software program called "Natural Reader." Fully integrates with MS Word and Logos/Libronix. You might want to view the web page. It's better than the L4 reader by far.

Is there a way to slow down the voice in read aloud? It goes too fast making it difficult to understand some phrases. I'm also experiencing the "regression bug" as stated in other posts.

In Windows 7 you can control the speed to the speech in Control Panel / Speech Recognition then click the Text to Speech link on the left slide. There is a slider to make and test the speed to speech.
There is also an equivalent Control Panel setting in Vista and Windows XP. It's a Windows configuration, not a Logos one.

Could you be more specific concerning the software called "Natural Reader." In doing a Google search, I actually found multiple companies which display when I do a "Natural Reader" search. Many of them use the actual phrase Natural Reader as the software name but they are published by different software companies. Is the program you use from NATURAL SOFT? Latest version, Natural Reader 9.0.

Just noticed your post. Since you attached your post to a very, very, very old thread ..... you may want to start a new thread so it gets noticed! I very seldom personally use the "read aloud" feature so I really don't have any good ideas for you; but lots of people do, so perhaps they can respond with their experiences.
