After 6 of my best years of using a Logos Digital Library (which is a short time compared to many of our veteran owners), going through both Morris Proctor's wonderful Camps (the DVD's are worth the money, BTW!), and training countless parishioners, chaplains, pastors, and students in how to use it, the thing that I think stands the greatest blessing for all of us is Logos' application to create a "personal book" from their personal book builder. This application has the opportunity to really become a blessing for all in terms of starting out authorship, and offering it to the Logos community forum (i.e., pre-pub, or community pricing) to create a possible market.
This activity would give potential authors a chance to try out their skills, offer it to a wide-spread community (world-wide, that is) of people for great exposure and confirmation of their ability to write, and possibly even create decent part-time, or full-time income for those who prove to be good at it with the opportunity for advancement into other areas--speaking, co-authorship, further research, possibly grant opportunities, etc.
Here's the "America's Got Talent" analogy to the activity--Logos would be able to monitor not only the books themselves (i.e., against plagiarism) but also track who has risen to the top, recruit them into their team and VIOLA! They would gain a ready-made, proven successful author on their hands to bless others even more. Everyone wins.
Many parts of our country need some economic deliverance and Logos has something here that very well may be able to release that to their client base, and beyond, which stands the chance of only enhancing their own opportunities because Lexham could claim the publishing rights on whatever new books that come out thereby creating, crafting, and setting into motion whole new markets out of thin air for books and authors that otherwise did not and could not have existed apart from the book builder opportunity.
Just brainstorming here, but it seems at least plausible.
uh............No that's not the purpose of Personal Books Module. It's not for you to make a profit, Logos has made that very clear. So nah, nah nah, Mr. Superman no here....LOL
I can't believe you even brought it up! And I can't believe is not butter! LOL
Oh boy I might as well just not say more...LOL

On 25 Aug 2011, Bob Pritchett replied about a Logos PB bookstore => http://community.logos.com/forums/p/36273/280178.aspx#280178
Bob Pritchett: We're still finalizing the policies. But in general, the bookstore is for your own content. If users start uploading public domain stuff we haven't done yet, it will destroy the market for high quality editions we might do. This ends a major source of revenue for Logos, and limits all the user's to possibly lower-quality editions. If we fight quality by allowing multiple people to submit their own editions of the same PD books, now the store gets cluttered with hard-to-distinguish multiple editions of the same works. You might take notes on a low quality edition and then find a higher quality edition available later, and then want to move your notes from one to another. And to distinguish between good/bad editions people would start building "brands" of editions (even if the brand was just their name), and then we're creating a big free-for-all marketplace that generates no revenue. Etc. -- Bob

Appears Logos does not want competition with Logos public domain resources. Caveat: have no idea when Logos Personal Book store will be ready for use.

JR, I believe that you are on target. Most publishers tell you, that if they do not ask, do not send them a manuscript, or they will send it back to you unopened.
With digital publishing, everyone gets the chance to be published. Maybe one day I will be reading your works in Logos.

Did u read that James Woods...lol...Logos does not want competition. Thanks keep smiling for replying to my post since it seems to be the only one that makes sense. Just kidding! Happy Resurrection Sunday! Wait! Isn't that every Sunday?

Or u can watch him on TV James Woods comes out on Family Guy...LOL
I'm a little lost with your superman comment, didn't know what that had to do with the topic.
The comment was not focused on the "profit" piece anyway, as simple exposure for most people to get there start as a known author is the real key.
And lets try to keep comments professional.

JR,
I find you brainstorming very interesting and very possible. Hope Logos will take note. I look forward to more progress on personal books. I am more interested in that than any other Logos improvement at this point.

I have found it best just to skip over G. B.'s posts.
First off, that is a great picture! If that's you in it, that would have been a great time I'm sure
Second, regarding your comment. . . LOL!
I have taken note. Thanx
Childs, I appreciate your supportive comments, and even if there is nothing "profitable," per se that comes out of it, at the least, the ability to create our own books and even share them is an invaluable tool, especially for educators.
My first Morris Proctor training included Morris' comments on how a classroom would make great use of this--the teacher makes the notes/books on the books that are assigned to the class, and then for the class's benefit and discussion, the notes/books are handed out to the classroom.
While clearly there are many that would simply just read the notes/books alone, the ones who read both with any intent will be able to generate great discussion for the rest of the class to feed on. And feed the sheep is what we're here for, Amen?!

Duly noted and appreciated.
Thanx.

Back in the Libronix days before they renamed software to Logos. I can swear there were sites that gave away free PBB books. I didn't own a libronix base package just ebible series so never had PBB builder.
