I am writing to report a bug in Logos 4 (for Mac)  that appears to be linked to one particular resource.

Here's the scenario:

1.I create a search on the phrase “wrath of God” in a collection I have entitled “Journals: Theological Journals”.
2. This returns 1256 results in 693 articles in 376 resources.
3. One of the results is entitled “Do Believers Experience The Wrath Of God?” Journal of the Grace Evangelical Society volume 15, V 15, N 2, P 44
4.When I click this link, the rainbow wheel appears, and Logos becomes unresponsive. I have let the rainbow wheel go for as much as 30 min. without results. I have to use "Force Quit" to shut Logos down and start it up again.
5. When I narrow the scope of the search to a smaller collection entitled “Journals: Journal of the Grace Evangelical Society” the number of results is smaller, but the aforementioned article Is still found.
6. Clicking on that link in this narrowed search produces the same results: Logos becomes unresponsive.
7. In both cases I must use Macs “Force Quit” feature.
8. When I open up the Journal of the Grace Evangelical Society collection and scroll down to number 15 in attempt to open it by clicking on it log us once again hangs up.
9. When I click on any of the other journals in this collection they all open up just fine. The problem seems to be isolated to Volume 15 of JOTGES.

Anyone have any idea of what's going on?

As for my machine:

  • iMac (mid-2011) i5
  • 16GB RAM
  • 900GB Storage
  • Lion 10.7.3

Bud - First, welcome to the forums!

I think you are going to need to post logs. You can find the info to do that in the wiki HERE.

As Bama said, "Welcome to the forum"

Made several attempts to duplicate your crash using L4 Mac 4.5b Beta 6, but was unable to bring L4 Mac to its knees. What version of L4 are you using? As Bama stated, logs will be necessary to troubleshoot this problem.

Here are the log files. From what I can tell on the support pages this is what I'm supposed to upload - although the instructions are less than lucid.

The Logos version is Logos Bible Software 4.5a SR-1 (4.51.0.2057)

7457.Logging.zip

This bug is still happening.

Bud -

One of the "techie" users will have to take a look at it… One question though. Have you tried using a blank layout to see if the resource causes this problem still?

Bud Brown:
Here are the log files.

Welcome Big Smile

Since using stable Logos 4.5a SR-1 release (currently 4.51.0.2057) can call Logos Mac Support => http://www.logos.com/about/contact (or email with reference to this thread)

Looking at log files, noticed diagnostic logging is not enabled in Indexer.log file.  The Logos4.log file has an entry for resource LLS:gs_jotges_15 with last lines being 10 seconds later.  The Logos4Error.log file has a number of network connection timeouts over several days.

Could enable diagnostic logging, restart Mac, launch Logos 4 Mac, repeat hang, wait for 4 minutes.  If journal article does not appear, then compress log files and attach to a forum reply.  Wiki Mac Troubleshooting has => How to Report Bugs in Logos 4 Mac

Optional: download and use 5504.Logos4MacLogging.app.zip to display/change your logging setting

Optional: download and use Logos Log Scribe application to create a zip file on your desktop that includes your diagnostic logs plus a copy of console messages.

Keep Smiling Smile
