Does anyone know how I can find the Hebrew and Greek fonts to be used on my MAC?  I especially need the fonts so I can type in either language, primarily in Photoshop for graphics work.  Thanks for the advice.

Brent

Hi Brent! Welcome to the forums. Smile

If you go to Language & Text under your OSX settings, you will want to add Greek & Hebrew under input sources. Also, make sure that Keyboard & Character viewer is checked. This should create a language flag to appear in the upper right of your screen. To switch between languages, click the flag.

There are several sources of free Hebrew fonts

Ezra SIL SR seemed to work best with L4 Mac 4.5c Personal Book tool Download "EzraSIL251_Src.zip"

http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php?item_id=EzraSIL_old&highlight=Ezra#9fa652d2 the first download link is for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

You might also want to take a look at http://www.tyndale.cam.ac.uk/index.php?page=unicode Believe this one contains Cardo, another good Hebrew Font. It also provides some keyboard accessories.

Google might give you some other options.

Oops! Embarrassed Did not notice that you also asked about Greek fonts. The best all-round Greek font is probably SBL Greek

http://www.sbl-site.org/educational/BiblicalFonts_SBLGreek.aspx

Unfortunately, MS Office refuses to recognize SBL Hebrew.

Thanks guys for the help. It's fantastic and so appreciated. The next step is typing the scripture verses I need in Photoshop correctly since the English keyboard is just letter for letter and I'm not fluent in either language.  Any advice on that part of it?

Do you own any Logos packages? Cut & paste is a much better option.

I should have tried that to begin with. Photoshop keeps it in vector format after copy and paste. Very simple.  I do own Logos library, but I don't see straight Hebrew and Greek Bibles in my Silver package.  I found them on some websites and copied.

The Silver package should have:

Greek -> Na27 [known as Nestle-Aland Greek New Testament (27th Edition)]
The Greek New Testament Revised Fourth Edition [known as UBS 4th edition]
The Greek New Testament  SBL edition

Hebrew -> Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia: With Werkgroep Informatica
The Hebrew Bible: Andersen-Forbes Analyzed Text.

EDIT: these are just a few, i don't have the Silver package, i have the Scholar's package which has fewer than yours.

Steve has pointed out some of the Hebrew and Greek texts contained in your package. Do you need assistance in locating the appropriate words?

Peace, Brent!                                      ...   and .........              Always Joy in the Lord!                                      *smile*

Have you had an opportunity to check out the comparison site?               There are some Hebrew and Greek possibilities for you in Leaders, although you soon would probably want to increase what you can do.....
