Bob, Logos team, is this possible? It would be a really handy function! Especially for illiterates like myself! Wink

The Mac OSX has a spell checker built in that works with most all programs.  Is there an option in Windows to either install a native Spell Check or a third party software you can patch in?

It should be, I'm pretty sure the the rich text editor in WPF comes with a spell checker. From what I read it is just a matter of turning it on within the code.

That would be for the coders at Logos to do.

Sorry I'm not a coder and I don't work at Logos.   I'm just a forum rat.  (Hey Bob, you got any jobs a forum rat can do?)

Sorry to be a pain but is it possible to get a response from a Logos developer as to how realistic this is?

Hello? Anyone there? I can't get a response to emails, it costs to much to call so you tell me to come to the forums....

Why is it so darn hard to get an answer to this question?

I think that they are very busy with the upgrade and all the customers calling. Send a direct email to bob@logos.com and see if that works.

Perhaps because (a) they are working > 100% of the time to get the currently promised features out, (b) it may already be planned without a delivery date and they do not wish to commit to a time frame until the feature is closer to delivery, (c) because it is industry standard for the coders and designers to leave it to manage to release the what and when of products ... In short, I would be more surprised by getting an answer than not getting one.

I didn't ask for a timeline, i asked if it was possible! I think different logos staff answer plenty of these types of questions! I am well within my rights to expect a response, even if it is a simple, "we don't know!"

Mark the lack of response is curious I must admit, but it probably points to that issue not being one they have an answer to.  Though they may acknowledge it.   I do suggest an email to Bob as suggested.  At least his word is final, until we convince him otherwise.  Wink

Mark,

Sorry for the delay in responding. Spell check for notes is not available in Logos 4 or LDLS 3. Logos has not wanted to build all the functions of a word processor, of which there are many good ones, into the Notes function. You are always welcome to send feature requests to suggest@logos.com.

Thanks,
Melissa

Thank you very much Melissa and thank you for the 'suggestions' email address, I didn't know it existed. I have never used Logos 3 on a PC (having used MAc 1.2.2 since it was released. I only just switched to a PC. Smile

I'm sad to hear that spell check is not even being considered as an added feature. I was realy hoping for spell check in the new version. is there a way to manually check spelling. I have english and Bible dictionaries. maybe an addin that checks the words against dictionaries.

I only have one monitor, so having Logos and Word open while i'm writting is a chore.

Spell check would be nice. I don't need the other things of a word processor, Just a spell checker.

I think this feature would add great value to notes and/or sermon addin, but I know you have a lot of other featrues you are trying to get ready.

At this point I would be happy to have at least the same functions I have in V.3 notes.

God bless you.

Hello everyone. I was looking through this post and wanted to send you a short not to a solution I found for spell check in notes or Handout on Logos 4. I downloaded from  http://tinyspell.m6.net/#download. Once turned on it will automatically spell check as you type in Logos 4 (and I believe in Logos 3). Since this is the free version you can not go back and spell check everything but if you download from http://3d2f.com/programs/13-989-spell-magic-download.shtml then as soon as you copy the whole text and this program is turned on you can do a normal spell check through the whole paragraph as in Microsoft word document.

There are programs that will do both these jobs but then you will start paying money. I hope this helps and thanks for all your great info on these forums. AND THANK YOU LOGOS FOR ALL YOUR WORK FOR US!

Cheers,

Jeff

I can't help but notice the irony, in their opening statement, as compared to Logos' company policy:

"Occasionally you need to check spelling in an application that does not include a spelling checker and you don't want to launch your word processor just for that."
