Dan- Every highlight creates a note somewhere. The current system, which is certainly more complicated than the simple Kindle system, provides you the opportunity to direct each highlight note into the correct note file. A system like Kindle would completely bypass the file management system. This would necessarily create VERY large note files for those who highlight frequently. By the way, those who want the simple system you suggest are often the people who highlight the most! I'm not opposed to the simplicity (which I rather like), but I see the hazards it presents. My suggestion above is for Logos to create resource specific note files for EVERY resource (which I do manually). Until this is done, a "simple" highlighting system would be unwise. [I'm from the school of though that Logos should not create any "feature" which could be detrimental to the end user. I think waiting 30 seconds for a highlight to show up is unexceptable... I can't imagine what would happen if ALL my highlight files were merged... Actually, I can. In early beta testing, my app crashed every minute. To solve the problem, I separated my highlight note file into resource specific note files... It took more than 12 hours. My note files have at least tripled or quadrupled... My highlighting really took off one I got it working on the IPad. ]

Dan DeVilder:
Unless I am missing something, i think i can help both of you.  you can use two fingers to adjust the text up or down, line by line.

Thanks for that tip, Dan. I am a long term user of Logos (back to 1.X).  I've been using the iPad app since it was released and one thing that disappointed me was the lack of scroll. I take my iPad into the pulpit to preach. In fact I use a competitor's app at the moment because it allows me to scroll (it gives me the option to choose scroll or swipe). Scrolling is much better for me because it allows me to keep track of the passage I am handling. I don't think the Logos iPad app does this as well as the other app I use, but it's a start. It would be better to have an option to set a user preference to scroll or to swipe.

There are two things which disappoint me with the app: [1] the inability to create custom highlights (I have to create them on my PC and then sync them with my iPad); [2] the inability to backup the books I have downloaded from my library when I sync my iPad with my PC. If you keep your iOS version up to date and have some of your library downloaded you will find that under certain conditions you loose the books you have downloaded and you have to download them again.

Hi Andrew - and welcome to the forums

AndrewG:
[2] the inability to backup the books I have downloaded from my library when I sync my iPad with my PC

The app used to backup to iTunes but this was changed in 2.1.6.

There is a discussion of this - and differing views about it - at http://community.logos.com/forums/t/53104.aspx

Can you expand on the situations where you lose downloaded books?

Graham

Kevin - from Logos - has advised that this is coming - http://community.logos.com/forums/p/57418/411047.aspx#411047

Thanks for that, Graham. I suspect that some of my issues may coincide with removal of the feature from the app. However, I agree with Andrew McKenzie in the post you mentioned. No matter how others organise their use of their own Logos library having the ability to backup whatever portion of your library you have downloaded is an advantage for those want the option. I have downloaded those books in my library that will be of benefit to me when I use my iPad for studying. This then frees me from depending on a WiFi network when I am away from home
