I'm new to Logos, so I'm probably missing something. I just picked up the Bible Study Library. Installed it on a Nexus 7 tablet. I'd like to have my bibles offline, but don't seem to be able to download them and testing shows they are not accessible when wifi is off. I searched the market in case there were offline versions but couldn't find any.

The versions I prefer are NASB, ESV, & NKJV. The videos by Logos on YouTube show downloading the ESV, but that option isn't available. I really really need to access at least one of these offline, preferably all of them. What can I do to resolve this?

Thanks.

Ok

Make sure wifi is on.

Then go to library and find resource you want to download.

To the right you will see an       i (for informatiom)

Click on it and you will see information on the resource and also a download button.

Click on download and you will download the resource ( Takes a few seconds depending on size of resource)

Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. I've tried this. It works for some versions: ASV, KJV, NIV, etc., but the ones I depend most on (NASB, ESV, NKJV) do not have a download button. Actually, there are quite a few resources that do not have a download button, even though many are listed as in the public domain in the Information screen. I don't understand that.

Offline support is pretty important to me on a tablet that doesn't always have access to wifi. Browsing the web site, I don't see any mention of what is available offline and what is not. That's going to make shopping for new resources difficult.

Ok you can only download resources that you own.

Have you paid for these resources?

umm, I thought so. They were all listed in the description for the Bible Study Base package. I was wondering about that too earlier and went back and checked.. I also searched the store looking for downloadable versions, but I didn't find anything other than what was listed on the description for the Bible Study package I purchased. I must be doing something wrong somewhere, but I can't figure it out.

Did you sign in to the app with your Logos account info?

This is strange the Bible Study includes the Bibles you mentioned.

It sound like you paid for them, must be a bug or something.

Should not take much to resolve.

Good question

Yeah. I was able to download a lot of content from the Bible Study package to the Nexus 7, several dozen from that package, but the main bible texts I want along with some of the dictionaries (incl public domain texts) are not available for download.

Is there a way to log off and log back in? Maybe that will fix it. Can't find logout...

What about deleting the Logos app.

Then download the app again

Yeah, something weird happening somewhere. I just installed the app on my Kindle Fire and Verizon Galaxy Nexus and it works fine. Tried clearing data & cache for the app on the Nexus 7. It's giving me all kinds of fits now.

OK. Rebooted Nexus 7. Cleared data & cache for the app again. Launched app. Logged in. So far the resources that were unavailable before are now available for download. But now it'd dog slow and freezing when downloading. Can't scroll the list of resources while it's downloading. Guess it's a trashed install. Gonna wipe data & cache, delete data off SDCard, uninstall app, and then start again. All the pieces are there. It should work. Something just got goofed on the first install somehow...

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know how it turns out after I clean up...

I've been having the same problem on my nexus 7. I have a basic account that is unpaid, as I wanted to try out the service before I purchased anything. However, I was under the impression that there were several books for free. I am able to read them online but not able to download them for offline use. Even books that are public domain like Pilgrims Progress I am unable to download. My best guess is that this app is not optimized for Android 4.1 devices and therefore have a few errors, like a missing download button.

Do you have lots of notes and highlights? You may be experiencing an issue with slow sync.

No notes or highlights. First time user, first time install. It mostly appears to be working now except for being unresponsive while downloading any resource, even downloading one at a time (wifi connection to DSL ~12 Mbps). It seems like the downloading & syncing are being done in the main app. Wouldn't it perform better if syncing/downloading were performed in a separate Android service and then send a notification to the main app (or to a library content provider) to let the main interface app know that it needs to refresh content list?

So am I getting this all right?  Missing books, inability to download and in other forums, scraggly unclear fonts?  Why bother buying a tablet then?

I ran into a problem on initial install (and a few others seem to have run into it also) where some books where not available for download. Uninstall and reinstalling fixed the issue. Other than that there are still a few books out there that do now have license to download to mobile devices, but this hasn't been a problem for me yet. Pretty much everything I've wanted to download has been available; the vast majority of titles are available.

Not sure what you're referring to with the fonts. The Nexus 7 is a great device for reading. The text is very clear. The only thing that would make it better is if it had an eInk screen on the back for long reads. But really it is perfect for reading. I use it all the time and I'm very very happy with it. The only other font issue I know of is some of the special characters don't show correctly. This would only affect if you're doing any original language work which I don't, and that is probably best done on the desktop anyway. Someone with more experience may help you better there.
