There are also problems with Search dialogs - Bible Speed Search is the only one that seems to work. IE10 is the likely cause of these problems, so you will have to go back to Windows 7 as Libronix is no longer supported (and make sure you stay with IE9 and the IE9 Fix).

Calvin .... as Dave mentions, Windows7/32 happily runs Libronix3. But have you considered upgrading to Logos4? It's free and reads your Libronix books as well. If you're interested we can help.
Apparently W8 is a bit of a disaster with Libronix3; the only other alternative is to install a virtual box to be able to run XP > Libronix. I do that with Windows7/64 and it runs nicely.

You have mentioned this before ... but (my) Libronix runs happily in 64-bit Win 7.

Yes ... I've 'heard' you say that, but how? Mark (I guess) can't run L3 on W7 period. Mine has redraw problems on W7/64 during a window resize. I've tried different strategies; Bradley says it's W7 and just force a redraw toggling the TOC. You've never had any W7/64 issues with L3?
EDIT: On my intro phrase are you recommending leave off the '32' part? (which IS an incorrect quoting of you). Just reluctant to 'go whole hog'.

I have a computer that had L3 running under Vista and when I upgraded to W7 64-bit it still ran on that computer. I don't think I had to reload it, but if I did I had no problems doing so.
On two new computers where W7 64-bit was pre-installed I cannot get L3 to install. The error is the same as mentioned in another thread recently. The attempts to use the help available on the Logos web site for Libronix install problems got me nowhere.
This is off-topic for this thread, obviously.

L3 has installed on 64-bit W7 for at least one other user L3 is 32-bit and it will install into a 64-bit OS that also supports 32-bit. Logos 2 can't install because it is 16-bit software.

I just tested Libronix 3.0g on Windows 8 Release Preview (build 8400) with IE 10.0.8400.0 and didn't experience any issues with the Save Workspace or Search dialogs.
Which build of Windows 8 were you experiencing problems with? Could you post a screenshot of what's wrong?

I experienced the same problems with the Release Preview and the Enterprise Evaluation Build 9200 running in VirtualBox on Windows 7 Pro. I installed 3.0f from DVD and immediately updated to 3.0g, applied the IE9 Fix (still needed for menu boxes in Biblio, etc.) and copied my saved Documents and Preferences folders across.
Though selected, the WS name is not reflected in the Name box. Save is inactive even if you type a name.
Search boxes (Basic + Bible) accept input but the query performed is the Previous one. If you select a Previous query it is not reflected in the box but the search is performed.
Morphology is missing from Morphological Search.
Only Bible Speed Search works OK.
Input boxes do not work when creating a NEW document.

I'm not able to reproduce any of these problems on Windows 8 RP.
I'll look into it again when I get RTM.

I thought it might be Guest additions (designed to improve performance of the virtual machine) but can't see these that these would impact input dialogs e.g. custom video driver.
Did you install 3.0g directly, via the support links?

Yes, I installed the official release (from logos.com), then discovered resources on a network path (rather than downloading).

I'm still not able to reproduce the reported problems on Windows 8 Pro RTM. I did find some other issues, though. For example, I was able to create a new Word List document, but all of the Edit > Add commands were disabled. And saving a workspace worked, but loading it just loaded empty windows.
Between these issues and the ones you found, I think it's safe to say that LDLS3 is not compatible with Windows 8.

Sadly, but perhaps not unexpectedly with a new IE.

Both of these problems were resolved when I ran the IE9-LDLS3.reg file, as suggested by John: http://community.logos.com/forums/p/61297/434612.aspx#434612

I now think it's safe to say that LDLS3 is compatible with Windows 8 (build 9200 or later) as long as the IE9 patch is installed.

I upgraded (in-place) to Windows 8 Pro and I still have issues similar to those described above:-
- I can load a WS but can't save one (the Save button does nothing)
- Morphological, Bible and Basic Search are still useless (Bible Speed is OK)
- Advanced Search now works for both Text and Graphical Query
- I can Add words to a new Word List but can't save it and the "Add Bible Passage" drop down is blank
IE9 fix is in place & I'm using Windows XP compatibility. What do you think?

Did u reinstall from the .ZIP file? Run the setup program in admin mode?

I used the zip file from an Admin account.
I uninstalled and (ugh!) used "run as administartor" to install. It was worse - reverted back to the issues I first reported!
I'm getting rid of Libronix and there is still a question mark on compatibility with Win 8.

Yes it seems that it just doesnt work for some people under certain conditions.
And at this point we do not know what those conditions are.
Do you think there will be enough users that want to do it to justify putting more time into this?

Logos will not invest more time (Bradley is one for whom it is working!). We need to be careful about recommending Windows 8 to users who prefer Libronix.

Yes I know. I was referring to our time, the users. If there are enough L3 users who want it to work, then it can be made to work.
I have already run L3 in the Microsoft Application Compatibility toolkit on Win7 and identified several things that Windows is doing which allow it to run. It allows you to create a "shim" which is a more advanced form of compatibility mode. This is how Microsoft gets older programs to run, and I suspect that this is why it runs on a Win8 system with a clean install.
An in-place Win8 upgrade probably just imports the previous settings, whatever they were in Win7.
From a technical standpoint, there really is no reason that a program that ran under Win7 would not run under Win8. It is just a matter of configuration.
To verify this, I would need to spend some time with Windows 8 (which I personally have no interest in), to try to duplicate your errors.
I am willing to help, but if there is really no interest in it, it seems a waste of time.

I just picked up a Windows 8 machine and didn't bother to check into L3 compatibility. I installed 3.0g off of a disc, and copied my resources over from my old machine through a network. I copied over my note files and settings, and everything looked great at first. I was able to save workspaces and load them using the icon in the toolbar. Searches function, but the buttons to pause etc. are greyed out, and the Occurrences counter stays at 0. The Lectionary Viewer is able to show what was up from the previously saved work space before the move, but the up and down buttons are greyed out. Other lectionaries just don't work.
Should I even bother with this IE9 patch?

The patch is needed for everything to work.

The IE9 patch found here worked. The Lectionary Viewer is working again and search results are behaving properly.
Thanks for the help.
