Andrew, you have been working on this for over a year now and what an incredible result. I've now updated my collections with the latest data. Well done! Thank you very much!

So I have started comparing the two sets of collection rules. From what I can tell Andrews were the foundation, but have a few twists here and there.

For my own use I have consolidated them (surely with great internal redundancy). However, Its been kind of a pain, and they could surely use a good bit of revision to reduce duplicate names... However I am happy with them.

Which sets of collection rules are you comparing?

Andrews which begin with Theology: or Deomination:

And another set I found on a different faith life group for collections, they begin: Denom. Stream:

I believe those are all from Andrew's rule. You can see them all on the Logos Rule tab of the spreadsheet. The first section contains denominations and sub-denominations. Denom. Streams are basically supersets of all the sun-denominations in a denomination except for a few top level denominations that don't have Denon. Streams.

Andrews three sets of rule names are all prefaced with "Denomination:", "Denom. Stream:", or "Theology:"

Is there a way when you delete one of the collections and get a new copy you don't get the title of the collection appended with (2), (3), etc.?

If I am understanding you correctly you only get the collection appended with (2), (3) etc. when you created a collection with the same name as another collection. What I do when updating a collection is select all the text in the existing collection and paste the new rule over it. If I want to see what was in it before I can immediately choose "undo". This way I can go back and forth between the old and new collection rules.

Thanks Bruce, here is the scenario.

Go to a Faithlife Forum - like Denomination/Tags - grab a document and Copy it - make a private copy in Logos. If you have never copied it before, then it shows up with the correct title.

Now, within Logos, delete it - it is gone. Go up and after refreshing Faithlife so it knows you don't have it any more, it will let you copy it again. Copy it (This scenario I assume is what is necessary when there is an update to a document, per my question earlier in this thread; all the files were updated this weekend).

Now, when it comes again, it will come with a (2) appended to the title - even though the original is not there! Next time (3), and so on.

Okay, I think I more fully understand your situation now Don. Thanks for taking the time to explain it in more detail. I too have downloaded many of the denomination/tags from Faithlife and have experienced what you are saying. I'm not sure of a way around it other than to simply delete the old collection and rename the new one again (which I have done). What I would really like to do is to be able to view what changes were made and cut and paste them for myself but I can't figure out how I can do that from faithlife. I will continue to monitor this thread and see if anyhow else can help.

Please find the latest copy of the spreadsheet below.  I think I've included all the suggestions so far.  Feel free to keep them coming, and let me know if I've missed any, or if you notice any mistakes.

It still doesn't include all the Popes yet, but it does include the authors in the Ante Nicene Fathers (ANF) and Nicene and Post Nicene Fathers (NPNF) and the Journals.

As before, I've updated the collections available through the Faithlife post at https://faithlife.com/logos-library-theology-denomination-tags/documents, and I've added a new denomination or two.  This is the easiest way to get the updates.  It should be automatic for those who have already accessed the collections this way.

Here's a zipped copy of the spreadsheet:

Thanks Andrew for the hard work! Question - one of the Collections on the Faithlife group does not have starting its name, "Denomination", or "Denom, Stream", or "Theology" - it is Church of Ireland. Should that have a different name to be grouped with others?

Thanks!

Thanks, Don.  You're quite right.  I've renamed it.

Tullian Tchividjian does not seem to be picked up by either the Presbyterian, or reformed collections. He's a fellow floridians, an author in vyrso, pastor of Coral Ridge in south florida and grandson of billy graham.

Thanks, abondservant.  I've updated the collections, and the next time I publish the spreadsheet, he'll be in there too, along with a few other additions.  Feel free to keep suggestions coming.  I know there's still lots to do.

Kant, a Pietist? I don't think so.

The fourth of nine children of Johann Georg and Anna Regina Kant, Immanuel Kant was born in the town of Königsberg on April 22, 1724. Johann Kant was a harness maker, and the large family lived in modest circumstances. The family belonged to a Protestant sect of Pietists, and a concern for religion touched every aspect of their lives. Although Kant became critical of formal religion, he continued to admire the "praiseworthy conduct" of Pietists. Kant's elementary education was taken at Saint George's Hospital School and then at the Collegium Fredericianum, a Pietist school, where he remained from 1732 until 1740.
