I like the ability to open a tab in a floating window. I use this feature regularly. However, when redocking a tab, it would be great if it docked back to where it was before.

Agreed. Just a few days ago, I came across the same issue. It really would be helpful if a tab got docked back into the same place.

In the meantime, are you aware that you can drag the tab to any panel where you would like it to be?

Yes, I knew about that feature. Basically, that is what I have to do after re-docking the tab. I was just trying to save that step.

Not after, instead of.

Okay, I see what you mean. I've used that a few times. It's still not what I want, but it does save a step.
