Windows 8 and Logos

If you're running Windows 8 already, check out Logos' Verse of the Day application, available free in the Windows 8 Store:

http://apps.microsoft.com/webpdp/en-us/app/verse-of-the-day/cb3a23bd-c12a-4e15-b7fa-322b2e5b1236

It uses a live tile to feature the Biblia.com Verse of the Day (http://biblia.com/plugins).

This should also serve as a hint that Logos knows about Windows 8, and is developing for the Windows RT ("Metro") interface as well as ensuring Logos Bible Software continues to work well on desktop Windows.

Beautiful. I was under the impression from previous posts that Logos was "waiting to see" on Windows RT, that you were only proceeding with standard Window 8. I'm curious as to whether the RT version would be an applet or the full desktop version. Either way, Great news!

Great. Way to go. Microsoft with it's Windows 8 Pro and RT ...and Phone version is back on the scene. IMHO it has a great future. I am really glad Logos is watching that development and is preparing for that. Thank you Bob. [Y]

I could not imagine that Logos was not working hard on this. Thanks for letting us know for sure, Bob.

My son installed the Consumer Preview on his laptop a couple of weeks ago (after a BIOS update) and we've got Proclaim running on it at the church as a result. We used to have a lag between the keypress and the actual change of slides--not any more. So, if you've got Windows 8, not only can you check out L4 on it, but try Proclaim as well.

    Peace & Blessings,

OK. New to W8 ... I am playing from the world of Apple via parallels, and was curious.

How does one 'install' this app?

I managed to find the MS app store and found the hidden (!!!!) search button but a search for 'logos' or 'biblia' produces no results, and 'bible' found five hits, non-relevant.

Am I wrong to think that this is a panel for the 'start screen' of a desktop? Is it only for tablets running the non-windows version of windows? (sorry I do not know what it is called ... Windows 8 is Windows 8 AFAIK, I presume that they have not called two separate OSs by the same name!)

    Thanks.

As Spock would say on Star Trek "Fascinating".  I am not sure about buying a Tablet or if I even want to open my silly Amazon Kindle Paperwhite when maybe I should just wait and buy the MS Surface Pro with Windows 8 and hope Logos is on it in all its glory.  That would be so sweet if it was affordable.

"Silly Amazon Paperwhite, Joseph? For a dedicated reading device, it's top notch.

I doubt the Surface Pro is going to be priced very low. "Low," of course, is relative. The Surface RT, though, is a different story. If rumors are to be believed, the 32GB RT could be priced at under $400.

The one negative I've seen with the RT, and again this is just rumor, is its screen's resolution. If the resolution is something like 1280x720, that will probably be a deal breaker for me. I want fonts to display in Retina-like crispness. It would be really nice if MS would release all the specs, even if they kept the price under wraps. I guess we'll find out in two and a half weeks.

Then again, quite a few companies are going to be releasing Surface RT and Pro tablets. Things could get pretty interesting. That's why I'm delaying a tablet purchase for a few weeks, at least.

But I'll probably hang onto my Kindle Paperwhite.
