For some context on the speed improvements in indexing, I just finished indexing a fresh Platinum install, from scratch, crash-free, in just under 15 hours on a first generation MacBook (Core Duo 2.0 GHz w/ 2GB RAM; one of the oldest machines supported by Logos 4 Mac). Newer and faster machines, especially those with more RAM, should finish more quickly.
There's still optimizing to do on the indexer, but this should reduce some of the headache associated with the indexing process.

During the time it was indexing was there some sort of message showing the progress. I'm not seeing anything showing indexing is occurring.

While the indexer is running, there is a small icon in the menu bar (upper-right) that looks just like the app icon. Hovering over it will show an estimate of time remaining.
