How do I make the NASB '77 my preferred BIble in L4?

I was able to use the New American Standard Bible '77 as my preferred Bible in L3. In L4 the NASB '77 is not on the list of Bibles which can be chosen as my preferred Bible. Is there a way to cause L4 to add the NASB '77 to the list so I can choose it as my preferred Bible in L4?

my understanding is that L4 only has NASB95, and that 77 is no  longer allowed to be produced..

Neils,

We await further word for Logos and weather or not they are going to tag this resource as a bible and convert it into L4 format. Unless they do that it will never work as well in L4 as the other bibles that have been rebuilt in the L4 format.

I don't own this particular resource, but have been under the impression that even if new licenses for a product are never sold, old licenses are honored by continuing to be usable in whatever new version of Logos software might be released. For instance, I own the Columbia Encyclopedia, and look forward to using it for the rest of my life!

Dominic,

Thank you.

I have the NASB77 from an earlier version of Logos which required two files (NASB.LIX and NASB.LSF). I copied them to my resources folder in Libronix, and the NASB77 worked in every way (preferred BIble, Bible comparison, etc.). L4 picked up the NASB77 when L4 was installed, but the Bible functionality (preferred Bible, etc.) was lost in the transition to L4.

All my memory and teaching work has been done in the NASB77, so you can understand why I would like those abilities in L4, especially the preferred Bible function for the NASB77.

Bobby,

Thank you.

If Logos has to rebuild the NASB77 for L4, I hope it happens sooner than later. If it can be done by relabeling it as a "Bible" rather than a "monograph" (as reported in another thread on this forum), then I would dearly appreciate learning how to do that.

Quipper,

Thank you.

That is also my basic understanding. You buy a resource and it will work on successive versions of the platform.

Please understand me, my sense is that Logos has done an extraordinary job of maintaining that standard. I applaud their integrity in making that happen. It is just my favorite, out-of-date Bible that seems to have fallen through a crack, been delayed.

I am just hoping there is a workaround of which I am not aware - yet.

But not if Logos doesn't have the right to keep producing it right?

Niels: you're welcome!

Robert: once a license has been sold, it is the permanent possession of the purchaser--as I understand it. So "the right to keep producing it," if you will, is eternal (updating it for the new platform, that is), just not the right to sell new copies of the license.

From Melissa at Logos:

We are no longer able to sell the older NASB version, but we are looking into permissions to distribute it in .lbxlls and .Logos4 format. We'll update this thread when we have more information.

So, in the previous format....yes....in Logos v4; not yet.

Robert,

Thank you for passing on Melissa's post.

Having NASB77 in .lbxlls and .Logos4 format would be splendid for those of us who have the older format!

Sooner than later, hopefully, but it would appear the wheels are in motion for the present.
