At some point when producing a PB edition of Schleiermacher's Speeches, I ran into this review/introduction to another short work of Schleiermacher. I saw that there was an old edition at http://archive.org/details/christmasevedial00schl and considered doing a PB of it, but decided to wait until closer to Christmas.
It is a delightful introduction to Schleiermacher's thought about Jesus and Christianity. Yes, there are many troubling aspects to it. But even if I disagree with him, I cannot dismiss him. And so I offer this to you all a Christmas gift.
