I would like to have two copies of my favourite bible open in different panes, and each have its own options for what markup to display (notes/highlighting/visual markup etc). At present changing the markup for one instance of a book gets applied across all instances of that book.

While I do think it is good to have the options to do different things I would say that I do like having the same Highlighting show in different instances of the same resource.

It would be good to allow Highlighting to be a document like Visual filters, this may allow for both types of options.

I was very glad to see that L4 allowed highlighting in one resource instance to show immediately in the instance of the other resource.

I do not want to disagree with John, I would like to see the option or control to do both so that different circumstances can be handled.
