How would I search the Bible for all the places that God the Father speaks? Not Christ.

If you have Clause Analysis you can attempt something like:-

subject:God  verb:say   in the NT; and

subject:God  verb:to say, mention, think, command   in the OT

This picks up pronouns for God, like "He", so is quite complete.

If you have Syntax Search the OT query works similar to Clause Analysis, but you have to construct a diagram. The NT is more difficult because it likes semantics for Deity that the OT query uses i.e. you can only search for theos.

This isn't meant in a negative way...but your request is impossible.

Too many of the 'and God spoke' are in debate as to if it was the Father or the Son who spoke.

Some see all of the OT as just the Father and the Son as not active until the NT.

Other see the OT as mostly the Son as our only advocate and heavenly contact through out most of our history.

There is a NEW Bible product called The God Speaks Bible that does exactly what you are asking about, and more.

it is created by Richard Mull of Operation Light Force - based in Seffner, Florida.

You can connect with Richard at rmull@operationlightforce.com

i think his web site is already starting to promote the Bible at www.godspeaksbible.com

I have L5 gold and I only have two resources showing up for "Clause" search.  LHB for OT and LGNTI:SBL for NT, yet in my Library I have 16 syntax resources and at least 5 of these have some form of clause data.

Am I missing some functionality or is this it in L5 Gold?

Hi Anthony

no, you are fine.

only two resources are used for clause searches - one for OT and one for NT.

I haven't gotten around to trying clause search before now, but I get 0 results for both of these, and most other versions of them that I try as well.

Also, I was wondering about all those neum adonai and the like. Technically, that's a noun, even though it's often translated with a verb.

subject:God  verb:to say  [in NT] Lexham Greek  54 hits

Have not yet got the OT  Lexham Hebrew to give hits   [I may be in over my head but I got hits in the NT]

More:

subject:God  verb:command/instruct    OT one hit  Deut 1:3

subject:God  verb:be commanded     OT   one hit   Num  36:2

subject:God  verb:command/appoint    OT    1 Sam 25:30      PS 119:138

subject:God  verb:speak/say      OT 10 hits

all I am doing is start typing and clicking on all of the matches listed - one at a time [hope that gives someone a hint as to do all at once]

I used the 5.0b beta and I see it has a later version of the Clause data sets. In 5.0a try:-

subject:God  verb:to say   in the NT; and

subject:God  verb:say    in the OT

But it is very particular/fiddly in generating the query after inputting subject:God

I'm aware what "many" and "some" "see" (imagine is more like it). Jn. 10:30 renders their surmisings moot. Both Father and Son are YHWH--attempting to distingusih which is which at any juncture is impossible, because it is ALWAYS both of them.

Actually, on a light note, what you could do is purchase the Word of Promise Audio Bible... tey have two different actors playing God the Father and Jesus... there! Problem solved!

Hardly.

Thanks, but I actually tried both of those as well before I posted last time, and I get the same results now:

Still zero in the NT.

In the OT I get lots of results, but that only leads back to the question that made me attempt the search in the first place: what about all those neum Adonai and the like? If you truly want to find "all the places that God the Father speaks", you'll want those as well. Especially if you don't know Hebrew and don't even know they exist. If all you've read is translations, and you start comparing those results with your Bible, you're bound to wonder why so many 'God said' and the like are missing from the list.

I'm not familiar with neum Adonai but if it means generically "God said" then Is 43.12 doesn't appear in the Clause search because the actual word used - "declares" - is a noun.
