I notices the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia by James Orr (1915) is in Pre-Pub for $35.00

But I already have this from Logos from years ago; I don't even remember what Logos version it was, but I do have it on a CD/DVD. Plus it appears in my L4 Library.

Do I have to buy it again to be able to use it in L5 and/or iPad/mobile?

I'm just getting ready to purchase L5 but I want to make sure I won't loose any resources I already own.

Thank you

Hi Bev

The currently available ISBE resource in Logos is the 1979 revised edition.

if you have this at the moment, you will continue to have access to it in L5 and on your iPad.

Logos is now working on the 1915 edition for which, according to comments made in the forums, there is quite a lot of demand.

but they are two separate resources and will be treated as such.

Graham

Bev N:
it appears in my L4 Library.

If it appears in L4, it will appear in L5. If it appears on mobile now, it will appear in mobile then. Are you sure you own the 1915 version? Logos currently has a newer version for sale… are you sure it isn't that version that you own?

You don't EVER lose resources. If a resource is taken out of a base package, it only effects those purchasing the resource going forward… never those who had already purchased it.

I now see that there was a previous version. Here is the note from Logos:

From Alabama's comments I see I may have misunderstood what Bev was asking. Apologies for any confusion caused.

Yes, that is it by Ages Software Yes  I was trying to figure out how to post the Screen Shot from my laptop on here so you could see it.

I used my iPad camera then I tried to figure out how to get it on this post, but thankfully you found this info on the previous version.

The Ages Software does not show on my iPad4 or on Biblia only on my laptop. If I understand correctly this new/updated will be available for Mobile.

If I buy the L5 now, will I loose the ISBE by James Orr I have? I just need some reassurance. I'm getting down to the wire to buy the L5.

Well, I don't think I understand "base package" terminology. I have bought more than several individual books/Bibles after I bought different base package(s) over the years. So how do I know what books are considered in the base package as opposed to those bought individually? If this doesn't make sense, I hope you can deceiver it. Thanks again.

You will not lose it.  You never lose any books by upgrading.

So I won't loose the ISBE by James Orr, but the files just won't show up in L5 until the update is completed?

It doesn't matter if you buy a book in a Tree. It doesn't matter if you buy a book from a Bee. It doesn't matter if the book you bought was Free. (Channeling my inner Dr. Suess). You don't EVER lose any resources EVER. It doesn't matter if the resource is in a package or not. You will NEVER lose ANY resource you purchase. Did I say EVER? Smile

A resource may be removed from the list of books in a particular base package, but that only effects those purchasing the package in the future. It doesn't effect those who purchased it in the past. Likewise, if you upgrade to a new base package, you may already own some of the resources… in which case, Logos offers you a discount price so that you don't have to pay for the book twice.

The update is unrelated to whether you purchase L5 or not. If you DONT purchase L5, the updated file will appear for you in L4. If you DO purchase L5, it will appear in L5 when it is finished. NOTE: there is no published timetable for this release. It could be a year or more.

Posted from Logos 5. Hope this helps? As you can see I did not lose it with my upgrade to Logos 5.

LOSS
חָטָא [chaTa] “to suffer as one erring, or as a sinner” (Gen 31:39, where Jacob assures Laban that he (Jacob) suffered the loss of all animals of the flock torn by beasts);  שְׁסוֹל [shekhol], “bereavement” (Isa 47:8 f, where the prophet foretells the humiliation of proud Babylon who shall suffer the loss of her children, and widowhood);  שִׁכֻּלִים [shikkulim], “bereavement” (Isa 49:20, translated “bereavement” in the Revised Version (British and American), where the prophet promises to the desolate Zion enlargement). In the New Testament the translations of three Greek words: [ἀποβολή, apobole], “casting away” (Acts 27:22, where Paul assures the crew and passengers that there shall be no “loss” of life from the storm); [ζημία, zemia], “loss” (Acts 27:21, referring to the harm sustained in the storm; Phil 3:7 f, where Paul counts all his natural privileges and attainments as forfeited for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ); [ζημιόω, zemioo]. “to suffer loss” (1 Cor 3:15, where Paul says the man whose works are burned shall suffer “loss”; Phil 3:8, same context as above).

alabama24 you made me laugh Smile. You have no way of knowing this, but my husband passed away a few weeks ago; he also brought laughter with Dr Suess so reading your post made me laugh and cry at the same time!

Ok, I'm going to close my L4 down on my laptop and buy the L5. Then I hope it isn't too complicated to get L5 on my laptop so I'm ready for Bible Study again.

Thanks again for the info and the laughter.

Sorry to hear of your loss Bev.

You will love L5.

All your L4 resources will migrate over to L5 with you and any new ones that are in the package will also become part of your library.

Happy Bible studying!

Bev - I am sorry for the loss of your husband, but glad for your laughter. Smile

I think you will really enjoy Logos 5. Feel free to come back if you have more questions after upgrading.

Thank you both for your condolences. He was diagnosed with MDS (brought to public awareness by Robin Roberts of GMA) in October.

Ok, I have completed the download/install of L5 Platinum ...whew! that took awhile for it complete the process. I started at 5:30pm and it finished at 8pm.

Happy day! James Orr is in my L5 Library as Ted Hans previously confirmed--thank you Ted.

This is going to be a smooth transition from L4 to L5 as you assured me alabama24.

I should be set for awhile. Now, to open Bible! App on my iPad4 and start reading.

I am so relieved there were no problems. Thanks again for helping me with this. Big Smile
