Brisa, it looks like KS4M is using a visual filter that alters the size of a word. My suspicion is that anxious would be broken at the previous line, but because the size of the words are changed by the visual filter, the first part of the word is being pushed to the next line. I would assume that the resource is loaded first, and then the filter - which might explain how this happens.
Duplicating that would require duplicating exactly the font sizes, choices, filters and panel widths that KS4M is using.

Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me. [Y]

That was my guess too. However, just applying a visual filter that alters the size of the word and pushes the first half to the next line doesn't reproduce the issue. I'm inclined to think you are right, and it would require having the exact setup KS4J is using.

Why would there be a space after the hyphen in any case?

Using Logos 5.1 Beta 2 on OS X 10.8.3 can use floating window to replicate (adjust width until anx- ious appears):
Screen shot includes list of all active Visual Filters, which have been shared with Logos Visual Filters so Faithlife members can copy them.
Edit: Highlighting Palettes used by Visual Filters are also shared with Logos Visual Filters

I am able to reproduce this issue and will report it to Development. The highlight causing this behavior is the image following the text.

This should now be fixed in 5.2 Beta 1.
Thanks [:D] since unable to replicate using 5.2 Beta 1 on Windows 7 with visual filter highlighting.
